1 .0 PURPOSE:
To provide for review and approval of water and sanitary sewer comprehensive
plans by outside city utilities serving within the City of Renton.
2.0 ORGANIZATIONS AFFECTED:
Fire, Building and Zoning, Public Works, and Policy Development.
3.0 REFERENCES:
Street Excavation Ordinances and Water Department Ordinances.
4.0 POLICY:
The Board of Public Works will circulate and review the comprehensive plans of
the various serving utilities. The Board shall approve, reject, or
conditionally approve the plans. The Board will consider service area
conflicts with City-owned utilities, City land use plans and policies.
5.0 DEFINITIONS:
Not applicable.
6.0 PROCEDURES:
6.1 The serving utility shall submit its adopted comprehensive utility
plans (6 copies) to the Department of Public Works, submit its
Environmental Review Checklist (6 copies), and its proposed service
area. The Department of Public Works will submit the application to
the Board of Public Works.

6,2 The Board of Pubiic Works wil] submit the comprehensive uti]ity plans
to all affected departments. Police, Fire Building and Zoning,
Library, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Palicy Development, etc.
Each department will examine conflicts and/or compliance with City
plans, policies, and goals. This review period shail be thirty days
from submittal to 8oard review.
6.3 The Soard of Public Works sha]1 review the variaus department
recor endations and either approve, reject, or conditionally appr ve
the uti]i ty comprehensi ve pl an. Rejecti on to the Di stri ct shal l state
the reasons far nan-approval . Conditional approval will require the
District's acceptance of the conditions in writing.
6.4 The serving water utility shall pravide a maintenance plan for fire
appliances and water faciiities. Interlocal agreements with Rentan
shail be considered for maintenance and upkeep of water faci]ities;
serving water utility sha]1 provide fire flow informatian on areas
within and adjacent to City limits.
