Ben called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M., attendance v��as taken, minutes of previous
meeting��=ere read, corrections were noted and minutes «�ere approved.
Prior to the meetin�officially starting there i�as discussion about fo�at for the mi.nutes.
Shawn concluded the discussion by making a point that�he I��Iayor needs to be au�are of
«hat is tal�in�place at the center, so the minute's format will remaiu the same.

• A thank you note��as received from Chris Pieczon�a e�pressin�thanks for the
loan of a walker provided by the center. For those��ho might not be a�Tare,the
center has a loan closet with v�Talkers, �F���el chairs, canes and etc. �TJhen a request
is made��e have the person��ho is borrowing the item sign a��aiver and they
may use the item for as long as it is needed. There is no char�e for this service.
• A check was received from Lottie Calhoun in the a�ount af�100. She �ives a
$100 checl�every month.
w Every year we have Mr. Silvester Cu�ini come to the center and r�ake a donation
in memory of his mother Emma. This S-ear he ga�e a check in the amount of
$2000. This year he v,�ent into the library and discovered that a plaque that had
been aiven to the center in memory o.�h;s��thPr��,����t���ilerP S+��sL�lly v��ould
be. ��hen u�ork was done in�he library the plaque was tz�en do«�n and not
replaced. Sha�Tn located the plaque and the plaque is bei�-��replaced today.
� The Thanks�vin�Dinner had an attendance of 2�0 senior citizens.
Appro�imately 75 volunteers gave of the�r time to m�e this a great success. I�
� the past those aftendees have been provided t�e out containers so in a sense they
were provided two meals. This year we didn't have the�additional food. The
ni�ht before the dinner there was a fairly r�ajor f�re in�he Sk-���ay area that
affec�ed sonle 20 families. It u�as decided to provide Thanks�ivin�Dinner to
those affected by the fire and the additional food usually provided to our seniors
went to those families.

� �Ietro Transit tivas at the cerlter on the 29�' of�Tovember. Metro is consi�eri.na
chan�ing a number of their bus services. They�vant to promot�the Rapid Line
Service.
� The Renton Commiulity Foundation has $b40,862.8b in that account. We are
looking at doin� a potiv er point presentation at our neYt meetin�.
� As a follo�v-up of�Iilis inquuy a'oout the Foot Care Pro�am at the Auburn
Senior Center, Shawn talked to Auburn on Friday. They take the two dollars that
they receive a�d put it back in their scholarship fund. Sha�m's thouffhts are the
way they do it is a little bit complicated. If further discussion is needed on this
issue we will schedule it for a later date.
� Shativn needs a$200 dollar check which has aiready been approved by tne
committee. That is to cover entertainment for the Volunteer Appreciation Dinrser.
This check goes to Cheryl Serio �vho is providing the entertainment. Also, a
check is needed for the Renton Technical Institute in the amount of$2,417.77.
The committee had already approved$2600 but due to the $10.00 spouse charge
tive were urder the $2b00.00 that had�een approved.

be installed are; Ben Cheney President, Pat Baylor Vice President, Kay Stone
Secretary, Sarldra Palley Treasurer,positions up for renewal; Eric EastberQ,
l�Iarge Cocnran-Reep, Emilie McCue, Elaine Koehler,Bill Clapp and then it
mentions Rose Warren will not be renetiving her position and a r�co�mendation
of Shirley Haddock to fill position 13.
Ben tha�-L�ed Rose �tiairen for serving so many years on the committee. At one time
she served as the committee treasurer.

On Dec. 18�'Darl Kellog��vill be at the center providing legal infflrmation. On Dec.
19�'the lun�h for tnat day will be a Holiday Luncheon with a scrumptious dessert.
Dec. 19�'is a trip to Bznaroya Hall to listen to the Irish Tenors. Tickets have alr�ady
sold oui for this trip.

� Tim is in Hawaii celebrating his SOth birthday.
Q Regarding Shati�n's comment about the fire in S?�yway just so you knozv the city
has a�ouple of shelters, one being the Renton Community Center. Chris got a
call at 6 a.�. that they wanted to open up the Communiry Center: So basically
when it is a ked Cross shelter they staff it. lhey provide the food and cots and
everythin�.

� A couple of great events are coming up. Renton City Concert Band is being held
this Sunday, Dec. 9�' a�Ikea Performing Arts Center. This is their annual holiday
concert. The following Sunday Renton Youth Symphony Orchestra is playing at
Carco Theater at 3 p.m.
� Chris gave a challenge to all of us that the Annual Polar Bear Dip is being held
�an. lst at 1� a.in. at �oulon Park. If you don't waizt to t�:ice a dip, it is fun to
watch.
� Chris wished all of us a Merry Christmas.

Dorothy shared that this moming and every Monday��ming people that have surplus
yari and e�c. bring it to the center to share. This a.m. it got very rowdy and one woma�
was pushed and fell. Dorothy wondered if there mi;ht be a better way to set up�he
tables. This event takes place in the lunch room.
The 20li City of Renton Holiday Schedule was distributed.
Ne�t meeting will be Dec. 17'h. The first meetina after the first af the year will be Jan.
7th. please be in a�endance at t�is meetina, the Ivlayor�ill sti=ear in o�cers and
members.
Ben brought to our attention that we �e waiting until the first of the yezr when�he r�e«�
president is s�aorn i��to ta�e care of committee appoint�e�ts. The way Ben plans on
doin�it this time is he has printed out for.ms �d at the ne�t meetinD Ben would Iike
members to take a look at the form a�-�d share what committee you�ight Iike to serve on.
One com.mi�tee Ben would like you to give serious consideration to is prob ams and
r�larketing. Ben��ill distribute the forms ne�t meet�ng and would ask you to review�nd
return the fcrris the meeting after that.
