President Ben Cheney calied the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M. Attendance was taken. j
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.

9 Volunteer Dinner secured for Wednesday, December 5. Last year we went back to
having a dinner thanks to the sponsorship of the Advisory Board. Board Members were asked
to sponsor the event again this year. Two quotes received for cost of the dinner. Best quote
came from Renton Vocational School for a total of$2,417.77 serving 110 people; quote could
change if count of participants goes up. Shawn might come back requesting$100 for entertain-
ment. !t wos moved by Milt Tiede second by Rose Worren to provide up to$2,600.00 for
sponsorsfiip of the Volunteer Dinner; a,�ything over this amount will be accrued by the Board.
Motion carried. In the past the Volunteer Party has been a free event for volunteers; a spouse
charged a ten dollar ($10) fee; volunteers will not come if spouse not included. Question is do
we open it up for a volunteer to invite a guest? It was moved by Milt Tiede and seconded to
char�e a t�n dollar(�'1D)fee for any person brough�by a volunteer to the Volunteer Party.
Motion carried.
o Received a bill from Michael Nolan for the acoustical panels that were installed in the
pool room; approved at a previous meeting; make checl� payable to the City of Renton in the
amount of$1,846.34.
• Spoke to the Mayor's secretary, April, to confirm January 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM for
installation of officers for the Advisory Board.
= Thanksgiving Day, November 27th. Requesting donation of$200; Union empioyees
donating$200 toward gift cards from Safeway sponsoring events such as beanbag baseball,
gobble gobbie contest, football toss, etc. Union employees will make check payable to Renton
Senior Center; Advisory Board mal<e check payable to Safeway for$400 additional $200
reimbursed by Union employee's check. It was moved by Milt Tiede second by Peg Budziu to
provide a check in the amount of$400 made payable to Safeway. Motion carried.

Bazaar. We need to keep track o�e;�penses spent on the Bazaar since Lillian Fornelia pravided

3� $1Q4.90—food. There is enough money ta fun� th6 Cra�t Bazaar for anot�er six to sev�n
years. Shawn re�.urned revenue made at Sazaar of food sales totaling$339.75. �

be providing a flaa� in nexi years' Renton River Days' Parade. Next get aut and promote the
center. Debbie ard Mi1t gave a presentation at the Fairwaod Methodist Church October 215t.
They had a senior group of 30; and were having a po�luck; we were invited as speakers ... we
tag teamed, whaiever Mi1t didn't cover Debbie filled in. Milt indicated ou� of 30 seniors a few
came dowrr once or t��vice, but the majority didn't know the center existed. Deb�ie said the
Church is in a non residential area. Two days later Milt made a presentation at the American
Legion Post 19. On Tuesday, October 30, Shawn made a presentation at the Kennydale Neigh-
borhood Association making �eople aware of what v�ie do and what is available at the Senior
Center.

balanced budget by November 26 for the years 2013-2014.

i Ben asked Dorothy Cookto report back on the Nominating Committee. Committee
members up for renewai are Eric Eastberg, Marge Cochran-Reep, Emilie N1cCue, Elaine Koehler
and Bill Clapp; each member indicated returning; Mary B. Brown stepping down as Vice-
President; Pat Baylor take term as Vice-Presiden�; Ben Cheney remaining as President and
Sandra Polley remaining Treasurer. It a�vas moved by Milt Tie�e se�onded tn afcept the
Nominating Cammittees recommendations. Motian cr�rried.
Round Table Discussion:
Milt Tiede asked how the vendors felt about the Bazaar and if it was beneficial to them. Debbie
said they did not do a formal survey but v�ient around asking how they did; most said, "fine."
Marge Reep and I talked about replacement of the roof; Tim indicated in the Capital Fund
money for a ne�ni roof; Marge and Milt suggests a study to replace the roof with a solar panel
roof and keep Renton Ahead of the Curve; ask Michael Nolan look into the cost effectiveness of
solar panels. Tim Williams mentioned Capital Funds are being evaluated and pushed back
another year, there is no money. If you add in solar panels it could uouble in cost. Dorothy
Cook indicated seniors feel service dogs should be registered at the office.
President Ben Cheney adjourned the meeting at 11:00 AM.
