Shawn requested that Tim swear Milt in as a new member. Milt is now officially a
member of the Renton Senior Advisory Boaxd. Name tags were distributed. Mary Burns
asked if inembers had pictures from the farewell party, she would appreciate copies for
her scrap book. It appears no pictures were taken. Bill Clapp reported on the Knights of
Columbus breakfast held on March 17'. Because of snow in the A.M. the attendance
was lower than in the past. Shawn received a call from Sonya Mejlaender the lady in
charge of Renton River Days. Two sponsors have been confirmed for the Senior Center
meal held on Thursday. Dan Kellogg will be back as a major sponsor. Dan has been a
long term supporter of the center and donates his time once a month to give legal advice.
In addition to Dan, South Hill Satellite will also be sponsoring. It's anticipated that Dan
Kellogg and South Hill Satellite will both be donating $1500 each. Just a reminder for
the last two years the Senior Center has sponsored a movie down by the river. On July
27' a Friday night will be showing a movie"The Dolphin Tail. That has been confirmed
and two sponsors have been confirmed. The Advisory Board is contributing $450 which
was voted on last meeting and approved and again this year Local 2170 which is the
union that serves City of Renton employees will be contributing $400. They may end up
putting up more. Traditionally they have a sponsored breakfast but the numbers have
been down so will not do it this year. Since they will not be doing the breakfast they may
put the money towards the movie.

, Then next year on President's Day which is a holiday for the centers Nutrition Program
and they don't serve a lunch the union is going to sponsor a breakfast brunch in the
dining room.
Two events are coming up in June with sponsorships looking really good. One event is
"Keeping Your Mind Sharp"and will be held June 7th. This event is being sponsored by
Gen Care located on Renton Hill. There will be a guest speaker. This will be an hour and
a half presentation held in our auditorium and we are hoping to draw 100 to 200 people.
This is a free event Thursday June 7'from 9:30 to 11 A.M. If you can we would like to
see as many Advisory Board members present as possible. Reservations are necessary so
if you plan on attending call and make a reservation. You can make a reservation the first
of May. We are excited and considering rnning a special event, "A Murder Mystery
Dinner". This is a first class event put on by professional people, not by our staff. The
cost for this event is$1500 and Merrill Gardens have offered to be sponsors. It will be a
combination dinner and Murder Mystery Show. Tentatively we are considering charging
' $8.00. This event is to be held June 20 and reservations will be taken the first of May.

conjunction with the Library system. This will provide good clean fun for all ages. The
State Legislature has still not come up with a balanced budget for 2013. With property
taxes dropping down there will be some budget challenges. Senior Center is doing well

MEMBER COMMENTS: Ben inquired of Tim if there had been any follow-up
regarding extended trips. Tim still needs to meet with former director. ,;.V.;a
Milt asked a question regarding using fake camera's for surveillance of theg. Ben
suggested members think about this issue and discuss it at a future meeting. Bill inquired
if there would be a better way for members to bring up concerns other then verbal
expression. Ben responded if inembers have any issues that they would like to be voted
on they can make a motion anytime during meeting. You do not have to wait until the
end when we go around the table for comments. Mary Lou asked when the Center will
be closed for maintenance and the dates are September 17th thru September 28'. Eric
expressed a request of Debbie that some of the trips similar to the previous Williamsburg
10 day tour will be resumed. Mary shared that there are concerts held at the Ikea Center
that are so worthwhile.
Ben adjourned the meeting at 12:55.
