Ben Cheney opened the meeti.ng at 10:00 A.M. Ben explained that Terry Higashiyama
and Kris Stimpson will be explaining the paperwork that is posted on the wa111ater on in
the meeting.
TREASURER REPORT—Sandy Polley

RECREATION SUPERVISOR—Shawn Daly
■ Shawn asked how many were at the center on Friday. If you weren't you
� missed a nightmare of a day. Power was out and consequently shut down
operations. The crab feed which was to be held Friday night was a major
concem. When the going gets tough the tough get going. Everything for
that event was moved over to the Community Center. All ended well.
■ The Holiday Craft Bazaar that was held Saturday, October 26�'was very
successful. We were given$4000 three years ago by Lillian Fornellia to
continue the bazaar. Shawn gave the treasurer$336.00 from the food
sales that sold during the bazaa.r. This money was generated from the
lunch program, and in addition to that$182.50 was made from the sale of
coffee and donuts. Tha.t is a total of$518.50. Shawn requested a check
for food expenses i.n the amount of$236.39 for the City of Renton and a
separate check in the amount of$150.00 to be given to Cher Williams for
her participation in cooking and serving for the event. A motion was
made by Ben Cheney and seconded by Milt Tiede to issue two checks to
cover these expenses. Motion passed.

■ A Volunteer Recognition Dinner is planned for December 4�'from 4 P.M.
to 6 P.M. Shawn believed he would have to ask the Advisory Board to
help fund that dinner. But he is pleased to inform the committee that a
gentleman who comes to the Renton Senior Center and appreciates so
much what the volunteers do that he has donated $10,000. This donation
will go into the Renton Community Foundation and the $2441.00 cost of
the di.nner will be taken from that fund. This gentleman wishes to remain
anonyxnous. This generous donation is his way of thanking the Renton
Senior Center for all they have contributed to his life. This money will be
held in the Renton Community Foundation account and each year he will
be consulted as to its use.
■ Shawn had a check from Michael and Virginia O'Donin in the amount of
I $100 given in Suzanne Thompson's name. Peggy Budziu will send a
thank ou to the O'Doni.n's acknowledging there gift. A v ' us generous

check was given by Sylvester Cugini in the amount of$2000 for the
continuation of the Bingo program. Sylvester is someone else that wishes
to remain anonymous and doesn't want any acknowledgement from city
hall.A thank you will also be sent to him. Shawn requested that
� � committee members sign this thank you card and it will also be taken up to �
the Bingo group for them to sign. A$125.00 check from Lottie Calhoun
rounded out the checks received since last meeti.ng. Lottie will also be
acknowledged for her conti.nued generosity.
■ Shawn requested a check to Safeway in the amount of$300.00 for gift
cazds for the Thanksgiving Day Dinner at the senior center. Milt Tiede
made a motion to approve the issue of this check,Mazge Reep seconded
the motion, and it was put to a vote and was approved.
■ A special thank you to Judith Young who volunteered to staff the Falling
Leaves Festival.
RECREATION DIItECTOR—Debbie Little
To recap the Holiday Craft Bazaar was a great success. Debbie felt it was one
of the best bazaars that we have had. The vendors were very cooperative.
The bazaar was held from 12 P.M.—3:00 P.M. It was very nice day weather
wise and made it easier for shoppers to be out.
COMPUTER CLASSES
Additional computer lab day has been added to our schedule. There will be a ;
computer lab sta.rting on Monday Novemberl8th, 9:30 A.M. -11:30 A.M.

Thursday Afternoon Dance is scheduled for November 7th starting at 1 P.M.
and going until 3 P.M. Bonnie Birch Duo will be playing. On November 21St
there is another dance scheduled with Bill Bennett playing.

only.

Kris Stimpson extended a thank-you to Pat Baylor for being so fle�ble and
helping out with the crab feed the day of the power failure. �
Terry Higashiyama explained the Senior Advisory Board Committee 2013 -2014
project lists. The committee will be given four colored dots to place on the lists
indicating their personal priority.
Judith Young asked, "What is the purpose of the Senior Center." Shawn
responded, "It is to meet the needs of the seniors". There is a mission sta.tement
on the first page of the Golden Opportunity brochure that gives a detailed
statement on the purpose of the Senior Center.
Terry distributed a Winter Blast brochure that highlighted the winter activities
being held in Renton. The Polar Dip was not included in this brochure. If you are
interested you may obtain information by calling city hall.
The Rotary Club does a fantastic job of providing Thanksgiving Dinner here at
the Senior Center. There are many people who are r�et eligible to take advanta.ge
of the dinner. If you know of anyone who needs a place to enjoy Thanksgiving
Dinner please refer them to Luthers Table. They are providing both Thanksgiving
Dinner and Christmas Dinner. T'here are brochures available in the front office.
The sidewalk by the kitchen has been improved and completed.
