Bank balance as of 10/21/13 $15,677.47
Float costs to date: $290.47 (This includes a gift
certificate and thank-you cazd given to Mr. Andersen for his help by providing the trailer
and services.) Shawn Daly was asked how much the Senior Center had provided
financially. He did not have the exact figure but esti.mated it was approximately$300.00
or$400.00,which covered Tee shirts and the banner.
RECREATION SUPERVISOR—Shawn Daly
■ Shawn had a donation of$100 from the Renton Chapter of A.ARP. Also a
$100 from the Federal Retired Employee's. Shawn has sent thank-you
notes to both of these organizations.
■ One of the objectives of the Advisory Board was to better promote the
Renton Senior Center. The current Renton Reporter has an ad that we
placed that is very eye catching about the Senior Center. An ad's in the
paper is not cheap, this ad was $800.00 and an additional$200.00 for
added color. There was also an article on the back page profiling what we
do at the Senior Center and specifically a focus regarding loneli.ness.
These two items really cast a favorable i.mage of the Renton Senior
Center.
■ The Lodge is presenting a Falling Leaf s Festival. They have asked for
Advisory Boazd participation. If interested it would require probably two
people. It's being held from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. on November 8'. They are
targeting the senior population. It's being held at the Lodge facility at
Eagle Ridge. Judith Young volunteered to participate and suggested she
could probably handle it by herself.

■ Current balance from the Ikuta fund is 660,715.33.This balance represents
$4000.00 that was taken out for the Rockin on The River event.
■ Shawn received a thank you for the centers participation towards
collecting school supplies for students in the Renton School District. A
grand total of 3700 items including back packs and various school
supplies was collected throughout the area. The bin that was provided at
the center was generously stocked.
■ A concem of this Advisory Board was to have a plate warmer for meals
served from the kitchen. Shawn has gone ahead and ordered a plate
warmer at a cost of$2500.00 which the City of Renton will cover. The
equipment has an on and off switch to prevent the equipment rnnning 24
hours straight. It's on wheels and can be put in storage when not in use. It .
can handle 90 to 100 plates.
■ Shawn tallced to Cher regarding kitchen help signing i.n at the Receptionist
desk. Since this is a volunteer request we cannot make it manda.tory.
■ As mentioned in the mi.nutes we aze replacing 200 chairs throughout the
facility. All chairs will be uniform to the chairs in the dini.ng room.
■ Milt Tiede gave Shawn the list of items that need attention through-out the
facility. Shawn acknowledged the terrific j ob the Facility people do
during the two week closure of the center. Using the room where we
conduct our Advisory Boazd meetings, the Facility people wiped down all
walls, chairs, tables, light fixtures and they cleaned the windows. They
post a to-do list on the door and when they complete a room they sign off
on that sheet, they do this for each room. They aze not able in the two
week time frame to complete everything, but they do a remarka.ble job in
what they do get done.
Shawn made a suggestion tha.t it might be nice to have Facility people come up during a
board meeting and be acknowledged for the great job they have done.
Pat Baylor inquired if Shawn wants Peggy to write the letter to the Facility people.
Shawn would prefer Peggy writing the letter as an acknowledgement from the Board as
opposed to it coming from Shawn.
