Swim lessons start June 24`and continue until August 3`d. Evening swim classes will be offered this year. This is a great addition as not everyone is able to make a morning lesson. All the beaches are now open. The Fire Department Dive Team put on a demonstration on Saturday. Very beneficial that swi.mmer's be aware of what to do if they see a swimmer go down. The day camps start on June 24'. Because of construction some programs have had to be moved down to the Kennydale Playground. At the next meeting Tim will have information regarding the fabulous Fourth of July Program. One bit of information is that this year they will not be doing a barge launch. There are so many regulations that this yeaz the fireworks will be launched from the beach. Tim's closing comment is to acknowledge the great things that the Senior Advisory Committee's are doing. Round table discussion: Pat: Will the ADF dog conduct paperwork be posted in the center? Shawn said it will be available but not posted. Sandy: What is the status of ectended trips? Tim said it is a goal to make them available in the future. There is one listed in the next Golden Opportunities brochure. Eric: Wanted to know if the VFW is represented at the Senior Center. Debbie said a speaker representing the VFW will be included with one of the A.A.R.P. programs. Bill: Bill showed the committee the skirting that will be used on the parade float. The application has been approved for the Advisory Boards participation in the Renton River Days parade. There are twenty participates that have volunteered to ride on the float. Also music has been selected. Bill shared many others factors regarding the progress and planning that is going on by the Float Committee. Ben gave Bill and the Float Committee a big thank-you for a11 their work. Pat: Is there liability for participates that will be riding the float? Shawn's response was yes. , Debbie: A young man by the name of Matt Jackson will be working a practicum at the center during the suminer. He will be working with the outdoor activities. He attends Central Washington University. Milt: Milt and his com.mittee inspected the Senior Center building and will submit their findings at the July 15'board meeting.
