ORDINANCE NO . 2779
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
VACATING A PORTION OF ALLEY LOCATED SOUTH OF
SOUTH 2ND STREET AND WEST OF LAGAN AVENUE, AS MORE
PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED HEREINBELOW.
03 WHEREAS a proper petition for vacating a portion, of

LID alley located south of South 2nd Street and West of Logan Avenue,
O as hereinafter more particularly described, was duly filed with the

f'- City Clerk on or about November 24 , 1972 , and said Petition having
been signed by owners representing 100% of the total footage upon
the portion of said alley to be vacated; and
WHEREAS the City Council by Resolution No . 1836 approved
on January 8 , 1973 , and after due investigation did fix and determine
the 5th day of February, 1973 , at the hour of 8 : 00 P .M. in the City
Council chambers of the City of Renton to be the time and place for
public hearing thereon, which hearing date was continued to February
13 , 1973 ; and the City Clerk having given due notice of such hearing
in the manner provided by law and all persons having been heard
appearing in favor of or opposition thereto; and
WHEREAS the Department of Engineering and other Departments
of the City havingduly considered said petition for said vacation,
and having found same to be in the public interest and for the public
benefit and no injury or damage to any person or properties will
result from such vacation;
NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I : The following described portion of alley
located south of South 2nd Street and west of Logan Avenue , to-wit:

Said alley runs generally East and West between Lots
1, 2 , 3 , 4 and 5 on the North grid Lot 6 on the South,
Block 1 , Smither' s 6th Addition to t he Town of Renton,
and said alley runs generally North and South from t he
alley above described to Second Avenue between Lot

5 , Block 1, Smither' s 6th Addition to the Town of Renton
on the West and Lots 6 , 7 and 8 , Block 1, Motor Line
`0 Addition to theTown of Renton on the East. The portion
C") of the alley sought to be vacated is that portion lying
r'- between the East half of Lot 4 , and all of Lot 5 ,
Block 1, Smither' s 6th Addition , to the Town of Renton
and Lot 6 in Block 1 of Smither' s 6th Addition to the
Town of Renton and that portion of the alley lying
between Lot 5 , Block 1 , Smither' s 6th Addition to the
Town of Renton and Lots 6 , 7 and 8 , Block 1 , Motor line
Addition to the Town of Renton. The width of the portion
of the alley sought to be vacated is 16 .45 feet. The
distancefrom West to East of the portion sought to be
vacated is 78 .45 feet then a distance of 90 feet to the
North.
SUBJECT, HOWEVER, to an easement for utility purposes
retained by the City of Renton, which easement is described
as follows :
The westerly 30 feet of that portion of the above
described alley to be vacated.
BE AND THE SAME ISHEREBY VACATED, subject to payment unto the City
by the Petitioner-Owners of the sum of $2 , 572.60 , which said
sum constitutes not more than one-half of the appraised value of the
portion of alley so vacated, all pursuant to RCW 35 .70 . 030 .
SECTION . II: This Ordinance shall be effective upon
its passage , approval and five days after its publication, unless

7\1 otherwise provided for hereinabove . A certified copy of this Ordinance

rJ' shall be filed with the Office of Records and Elections , King County,
as otherwise provided by law.
