Available on the city's website and in hardcopy form at the Renton Senior Activity Center, the Renton Community Center, the Highlands Neighborhood Center, and City Hall, we encourage park patrons to give us their feedback. Thanks for spreading the word! Contact Cailin Hunsaker, Parks and Golf Course Director, at 425-430-6606 with any questions. • Annual maintenance is happening at several city facilities. The Renton Senior Activity Center is scheduled to close for annual maintenance on Monday, September 11th, and will re-open on Monday, September 25th. • The city is in the process of updating its Bicycle and Trails Master Plan and is interested in public input. Please join us for an open house on Thursday, September 28th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Renton Community Center, 1715 SE Maple Valley Highway in Renton. Participants will be provided an opportunity to upcycle used T-shirts into reusable shopping bags, followed by a screening of three short films that shed light on the plastic problem. Each household may schedule one collection to take place on its regular garbage day between September 1st and December 29th at no additional charge. Preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and road closures will be at the following locations: ✓ A portion of Harrington Avenue NE has reopened! Harrington Avenue NE is now accessible from NE 12th Street to NE Sunset Boulevard and the western loop of Sunset Lane NE. ✓ Monday, September 11th and Tuesday, September 12th, 8:30 a.m.to 3:30 p.m. Intermittent lane closures with localized overnight lane diversion on NE 4th Street due to removal and restoration of concrete panels for the Storage One project. Questions can be directed to Rohini Nair at 425-430-7298 or Todd Freih at 206-999-1832. ✓ Tuesday, September 12th, 7:00 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Expect westbound curb lane closure of NE 4th Street between Monroe Avenue NE and Jefferson Avenue NE for repaving. Questions may be directed to Street Maintenance Supervisor John Kalmbach at 425- 766-6183. ✓ Monday, September 11th through Friday, September 15th, 9:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m. Single lane closure along northbound Talbot Road South between the northbound I-405 on-ramp and the southbound I-405 off-ramp for the I-405 Direct Connector Project. Questions may be directed to Rohini Nair at 206-999-1822. ✓ Monday, September 11th through Friday, September 15th, 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Talbot Road South between the northbound I-405 on-ramp and the southbound I-405 off-ramp will be fully closed. Detours will be provided for both the southbound and northbound directions of Talbot Road South. Questions may be directed to Rohini Nair at 206-999-1822. ✓ Monday, September 11th through Friday, September 15th, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Intermittent lane closure south of SE Petrovitsky Road along the west side of 116th Avenue SE due to construction. Questions may be directed to Tom Main at 206-999- 1833. ✓ Monday, September 11th through Sunday, September 17th. Road closure on South 14th Street between Smithers Avenue South and Davis Avenue South for utility construction. Questions may be directed to Patrick DeCaro at 425-207-6013. ✓ Monday, September 11th through Friday, September 15th, 9:00 a.m.to 2:30 p.m. Expect intermittent lane closures and traffic delays along Talbot Road South (SR 515) related to the I-405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector Project. In addition, northbound and southbound nighttime lane restrictions and closures along SR 167 and I-405 are scheduled this week related to the project. Questions may be directed to Street Maintenance SupervisorJohn Kalmbach at 425-766-6183. ✓ Monday, September 11th through approximately Friday, October 6th. WSDOT will be repaving and installing sidewalk upgrades along a portion of Maple Valley Highway (SR 169) between 140th Avenue SE (MP 22.86) and Blaine Drive Vic (MP 24.84). Construction will occur during daytime and nighttime hours and will result in a reduction of lanes as outlined below: Daytime closures (up to one lane at a time in either the northbound or southbound direction, not concurrently): • Northbound —Lane closure permitted between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. • Southbound —Lane closure permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Nighttime closures (up to two lanes will be permitted in either the northbound and/or southbound direction): • Northbound —Lane closures permitted between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m., Sunday through Friday. • Northbound —Lane closures permitted between 8:00 p.m. Friday and 10:00 a.m. Sunday. • Southbound —Lane closures permitted between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Friday. • Southbound —Lane closures permitted between 9:30 p.m. Friday to 10:00 a.m. Sunday. A map from WSDOT showing the location of the project and a copy of the traffic control plan, including the lane closure schedule, is available tonight on the back table. NE 10th Street will be closed between Harrington Avenue NE and NE Sunset Blvd. Sunset Lane NE will be closed just north and just south of NE 10th Street. The Highlands Library parking garage will be accessible from the south only during these road closures.
