EXCAVATION NOTES
1. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO DETERMINE THE MEANS AND
METHODS FOR THE EXCAVATION AND INSTALLATION OF THE UNDERGROUND
STRUCTURES. REFERENCE THE GEOTECHNICAL REPORT FOR
CHARACTERIZATION OF SOILS AND GROUNDWATER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
PREPARE A DETAILED WORKPLAN FOR THE INSTALLATION, AND SUBMIT TO
BOEING A MINIMUM OF 21 CALENDAR DAYS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
CONSTRUCTION SHALL NOT BEGIN UNTIL THE WORKPLAN IS APPROVED BY
BOEING.
2. EXAMPLES OF EXCAVATION AND INSTALLATION METHODS TO BE CONSIDERED
FOR APPROVAL INCLUDE USE OF POSITIVE PRESSURE SLIDE RAIL, SHEET
PILE SHORING, OR USE OF A CUTTING SHOE FOR THE WET WELL
INSTALLATION. GROUND FREEZE IS NOT AN APPROVED METHOD.
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT COUNTER-BOUYANCY CALCULATIONS FOR WET
WELL INSTALLATIONS THAT ARE ALTERNATIVE TO THE BASE SHOWN IN THE
PLANS.

UTILITY SERVICE SWITCHOVERS
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE A SCHEDULE AND WORKPLAN THAT
DESCRIBES PROPOSED SWITCHOVER ACTIVITIES. THE PLAN SHALL MINIMIZE
UTILITY SHUTDOWNS. THIS SCHEDULE AND WORKPLAN SHALL BE SUBMITTED
TO BOEING A MINIMUM OF 21 DAYS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION, AND
CONSTRUCTION SHALL NOT BEGIN UNTIL BOEING APPROVAL IS GIVEN. PRIOR
TO THE SWITCHOVERS, ALL CONSTRUCTION OR TESTING ACTIVITIES THAT CAN
BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO THE SWITCHOVERS SHALL BE COMPLETED.
2. FOR THE WORK ASSOCIATED WITH THE LIFT STATION AND SANITARY SYSTEM,
THE SWITCHOVER PLAN MAY INCLUDE A SHUTDOWN PERIOD OF UP TO 2
DAYS, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF AND COORDINATION WITH THE BOEING
UTILITY SHUTDOWN COMMITTEE. ANY EQUIPMENT OR RESOURCES NECESSARY
FOR THE SWITCHOVER SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR.
3. THE FOLLOWING ORDER OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES ARE REQUIRED:
1. INSTALL SHEETPILE SHORING.
2. INSTALL TEMPORARY FORCEMAIN AND ENSURE OPERATION BEFORE
SWITCHOVER.
3. CONSTRUCT NEW LIFT STATION INCLUDING WET WELL, INSTALLATION
OF PUMPS, AND INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND
CONTROLS.
4. TEST NEW LIFT STATION TO CONFIRM ITS FUNCTIONAL OPERATION.
APPROVAL AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE LIFT STATION BY BOEING
ENGINEERS IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO SANITARY SHUTDOWN AND
SWITCHOVER.
5. INSTALL ALL SANITARY SEWER AND FORCE MAIN PIPES THAT CAN
BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO LIFT STATION SWITCHOVER (ALL BUT THE
FINAL CONNECTIONS). THIS WORK MAY BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO
OR IN CONJUNCTION WITH ITEM 3 ABOVE.
6. COMMISSION SYSTEM WITH COMMISSIONING AGENT USING FIRE
HYDRANT TO FILL SYSTEM. VERIFY PROPER PUMP OPERATION AND
ROTATION. VERIFY START/STOP AND ALARM POINTS, BACKUP FLOAT
SYSTEM FUNCITON, PROPER FUNCTION CONTROL PANEL FEATURES,
ETC.
7. SANITARY SYSTEM SHUTDOWN AND SWITCHOVER AND FINAL
CONNECTIONS OF ALL SANITARY SEWERS
TRAFFIC NOTES
1. DO NOT CLOSE OR OBSTRUCT EXISTING TRAFFIC ROUTES WITHOUT
PERMISSION FROM BOEING. COORDINATE LOCATION AND TIMING OF ALL
ROADWAY CLOSURES WITH BOEING PRIOR TO PERFORMING THE WORK.
2. IN GENERAL, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN THE ONE LANE ACCESS
BYPASSING THE WORK SITE AREA AS SHOWN IN THE PLANS. IF FULL
CLOSURES ARE NEEDED FOR SHORT DURATIONS, REQUEST APPROVAL FROM
BOEING PRIOR TO THE CLOSURE.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE PREPARED AT ALL TIMES TO PROVIDE ACCESS
THROUGH THE WORK AREA FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES.
