HomeMy WebLinkAboutDalpay Short PlatDear Ms. Weihs:
I just got your letter today about resuming discussions with the property owner about a short plat at the corner of SR 900 and 148th Avenue SE. You are aware of the flooding problems
we have had on our property for the last 24 years. Currently, two officials from King County — one from the executive’s office and one from WLRD are studying our property for a
possible solution to the water p;problem. Here is one picture and I will be submitting others today. Councilman Dunn is also aware of what is going on with our property
— damage that Renton officials refused to make the developer study.
I hope that you will include these pictures in the information to be given to the Environmental Review Committee on January 6.
Thank you.

In 2000, WLRD engineer Sue Clarke, told us to put rocks underneath the area where the waterfall was located in Greenes Stream. This first picture is what we did.
The second picture is what happened after sediment flowed downstream and covered the rocks up. First, I was told that neither Mr. Sleight or Crawford could see the rocks/cover up.
Supposedly, Mr. Murphy has been helping us — he has told me that he can’t see any more damage occurring — so today, I put more rocks into the stream to show WLRD staff what sedimentation
is. I hope that the rains pick up and that the rocks I stuck into the stream become invisible.
I can’t win — first Mr. Sleight and Crawford told us that we would never get any help; now neither Mr. Murphy nor Alex can see any damage occurring. So why during the Maywood Town
Halll, did Councilman Dunn, Mr. Taylor and others say that I should work with the County?
Claudia – When I started working with you earlier this year I committed to assess the conditions in Greene’s Stream on your property to better understand what, if any, problems are
occurring today, so we could consider available options to address any problems. In our work so far, neither I nor our stormwater experts, have not been able to identify any problems
with sedimentation or erosion.
Like I said, what happened in the past doesn’t matter — and it doesn’t seem to matter that we are being affected by climate change. Maybe I need to have a second opinion — I can get
them from my doctor —maybe someone who specializes in water problems can come from Pierce County or Kitsap. I wish that the attempt to form the city of Briarwood years ago had been
successful.
Thank you all for letting me vent.
