HomeMy WebLinkAboutResponse letter to Mr. HernandezDenisLawMayorCommunity&EconomicDevelopmentC.E.“Chip”Vincent,AdministratorNovember7,2016OmarHernandez517MainAveSouthRenton,WA98057SUBJECT:WSDOT1-405/SR167DirectConnectNoiseVariance,COMMENTRESPONSELETTERLUA16-000770,V-HDearMr.Hernandez:ThankyouforyourcommentsrelatedtotheWSDOT1-405/SR167DirectConnectNoiseVarianceproject;datedNovember1,2016whereinyouexpressedyourconcernsregardingtheconstructionnoisefortheprojectdurationofthreeyears,andenquirediftheCityand/orWSDOTconsideredtoprovideforinterestedparties,afundtoallowforresidentstomovefromtheircurrenthomesinordertoavoidnoiseandconstructionconcernsduringthe3yearsofconstruction.Theapplicant/WSDOThasmentionedthattheproposedprojectwillbeamobileoperationandthatresidentsofparticularlocationswillnotbeimpactedforthewhole3yearprojectduration.WSDOThasinformedtheCitythatthemajorityofnightworkperformedforthisstageoftheDirectConnectorwillbesouthofyourresidence,sonomajorworkisexpectednearyourhome.NighttimelandscapingworkontheBensonhillsideonnorthbound1-405willoccurforapproximately2weeksduringFebruary2017.ThisworkcanonlybedonewithnighttimeclosuresduetothehillsideproximitytonorthboundI-405.Equipmentwillincludelaneclosuresvehicles,trucksandexcavators.Therewillbeafewitemsofworknearyourresidenceandastheconstructionmovesalong,WSDOTwillworkwithyouandnearbyresidencestoaddressanynoiserelatedissuesfromtheproject.WSDOThasproposedanoisemonitoringplanfortheproject.CitystaffrecommendationfortheprojectincludestheconditionthatWSDOT/contractorworkwiththeresidentstoreducethenoiseimpactsifcomplaintsarereceived,andprovidetemporarymotelvoucherstoresidentsafterotherattempts(includingearplugs,whitenoisemachine,andpossibletemporaryinstallationofnoiseshields)tominimizethetemporarydisturbancesprovetobeunsuccessful.1055SouthGradyWay,Renton,WA98057.rentonwa.gov
