Once used as a destination tourist attraction with the Spirit of Washington. For over 20 years the train station was used as a dinner train to the wine country. People from all over Washington and beyond have fond memories of the wine train and weekly we receive calls and inquiries about what happened to the wine train? Recently a book was written, followed up by several magazines and newspapers, with featured articles. We used the opportunity to promote the Renton Visitor Center. In moving forward this year, our emphasis is on "branding Renton." We have spoken to the hoteliers and listened to what they would like assistance with from the Renton Chamber of Commerce. We all know what a beautiful and wonderful place Renton is— with so much to offer—and now it's time for us to tell our secret. We will continue to work on branding through: Visitor's Guide—20,000 guides are produced annually and distributed throughout Renton (hotels, restaurants, medical centers, workplaces)and the Pacific Northwest and mailed upon request in the USA and Internationally. The guide features Businesses, Attractions,Activities, Events and general information about Renton to attract visitors. The Guide is also on our website digitally. Every business is linked to their website or a fact page. In 2020 we are going to work with our local marketing partners (RTC, RSD, UW/Valley Medical, City of Renton) to put an emphasis on,a branding and messaging consistent and/or complimentary with their messaging and outreach. ^' Branding—we are excited to work with local vendors to "brand" Renton. Merchandise, promotions, goods, activities, events, etc. We will be having a Chamber presence at events and activities and bring that branding with us with opportunity for purchase. This will not only promote "Renton" but our attractions and our businesses as well. GoRenton.com Web Site—We have contracted with a local firm and have launched a brand new website. We have generated a new RFP section.and groups, as well as individuals, have already begun utilizing the same. We have brought all posting in- house in real time and will be making constant improvements and upgrades to the same - linking to our YouTube Channel and innovative ideas to catch attention. Face Book, Instagram,Twitter will all be linked to our site with (hoped) daily posting. We plan on pushing this website out in different capacities as it is developed—promoting not just our City of Renton but the tourism and business as well. Total anticipated costs toward web maintenance, development and presence: $15,000.00 Media Advertising/ Print Advertising/Editorial- We will continue our outreach with local media and marketing firms including a heavy partnership with the Renton Reporter. We have established a new expanded relationship with the Puget Sound Business Journal as well. We will continue our outreach to 425 Magazine, USA Today Travel Section, Seattle Times, Northwest News, Washington Tourism. We have also started a "Marketers"group and are working with the to develop greater strategic marketing plans and presence. Total anticipated costs toward advertising: $15,000 ^'Visitor's center and Chamber Fulfillment-The Chamber facility serves as a Visitor's Center. In 2019 we started to meet with hoteliers and want to continue to meet with the LTAC Committee regularly to discuss ideas and how to better serve them. We have been making regional and national connections with other visitors centers and chamber of commerces in effort to expand our outreach and broadcast. We will be participating with travel shows in order to have a "Renton" presence for groups that are looking for spots to bring their groups and travels. In addition to the various outreach, we have the projected expenses as outlined in the LTAC application, for Operation of the Visitors Center, to include (but not be limited to): • Operation of the building/maintenance/staffing. • Referring inquiries to businesses. • Greeting and serving walk-in visitors. • Maintaining and answering phones, online requests. • Printing promotional material. • Mailing information in response to requests. • Responding to publicity and media leads. • Distribution of advertising and promotional material. • Participating in regional and state tourism activities. • Maintenance of printed material on display to visitors. • Visitor's web site'hosting and maintenance.
