LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS & FIREFIGHTERS DISABILITY BOARD 11 REGULAR MEETING -V` MINUTES February 26, 2019 — 9:00 a.m. Renton City Hall —1st Floor HRRM Conference Room Attendees: Jim Phelan, Jim Matthews, Russ Olson, Armondo Pavone, Leslie Clark, Carolyn Kraft Absent: Wendy Rittereiser, Ed Prince LEOFF Board CALL TO ORDER Jim Phelan Jim Phelan called the meeting to order at 9:02 am. Member at Large APPROVAL OF MINUTES (Chair) Motion to approve January 22, 2019 minutes was made by Armondo Pavone and seconded by Russ Olson. Motion passed. Armondo Pavone OLD BUSINESS Council Member • A copy of the revised plan language was provided regarding massage visits being increased from 10 to 25 visits per calendar year. The amendment was previously Ed Prince adopted so the plan language is for reference only. Council Member • At a previous board meeting, a question was raised about whether the current amount of $181.50 max per day for Nursing Facility/Home Health Care is appropriate James Matthew (minus the cost of medicine). It has been a number of years since this was last Fire and Emergency updated. Leslie presented a memo with a summary of Federal and State laws with Services which we must comply. The laws are complicated because Federal and State laws are very different. The board requested that HR ask HMA what the median amount is with other plans for the per day maximum for Nursing Facility/Home Health Care. Russ Olson Police NEW BUSINESS/CORRESPONDENCE AND BILLS The board received a letter from a member regarding pain medication after surgery. There was a discussion about all prescription plans (not just the City of Renton) are changing because of the opioid epidemic and the "pendulum swing" is in reaction to the national opioid epidemic. It was disturbing that the member could've paid out of pocket with cash and received his 40 day prescription. We contract with Envision and they changed their policy for seven day fills on all opioids. There are some neighboring agencies whose plans only allow for a three day fill on opioids. COMMENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS A board member received a phone call from a member whose bill was not being processed by HMA and he referred the member to the City of Renton HR department. There was a reminder that members have to process their claims through Medicare first before HMA will process the claim. Jim Phelan provided a reminder to exclude member names on materials provided to the board. ADJOURNMENT at 9:29am, Russ Olson moved and Jim Matthews seconded to adjourn. Jim Phelan closed the meeting. ' ( Z' Z; E -,
