On behalf of the Leavitt Company we are resubmitting the 10% Notice of Intent for the
May Creek annexation. As you requested, the annexation boundaries have been expanded
to include additional properties. Considerable time and effort has bee devoted to
contacting, and working with, property owners within the expanded area. Three community
meetings have been held in the annexation area, and every property owner within your
suggested boundaries has been contacted.
The proposed annexation now encompassed 79.5 acres, with an assessed valuation of
$1,870,504. The attached signatures represent $1,159,470 of assessed value, or 61.99% of
the total. The proposed boundaries follow man-made features -the north line of Township
23N (also the north line of Section 3) and the centerline of 148th Avenue S.E. One small
pocket along 148th Avenue is not included due to the opposition of the present owners.
The annexation area represents a logical, incremental expansion of the City of Renton. The
area is within the City's sphere of influence and abuts existing residential development
within the City. Access to and through the annexation area will be provided via 143rd
Avenue S.E., N.E. 20th Street, and 148th Avenue S.E. The annexation will provide for the
city's desired extension of N.E. 20th Street to 148th Avenue S.E.
Annexation to the City will provide for appropriate levels of police, fire and utility service
for new single-family development. The new development will be consistent with City
standards. May Creek and its associated wetland will be protected under the City's
regulations.
