Supplementary Report:
At the client’s request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe cut slopes and test footing backfill.
Cut Slopes
While onsite, rep observed south slopes of the cut slopes to be near vertical and covered in plastic sheeting. Rep
observed that the north slopes of the excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope. Although over-steepened, slopes
are stable in current configuration and stable to work within. The contractor is responsible for providing all safety
measures in accordance with state and federal regulation.
Footing Backfill
Rep observed contractor use a medium sized excavator to backfill with native brown silty sand with gravel material.
Rep observed contractor place 12” lifts of native soil and compact with a jumping jack (or a hoe pack when able).
Pea gravel was placed on top of the compacted footing backfill and a vapor barrier was installed over the pea
gravel in preparation for slab pouring. Rep took compaction tests on backfill and observed material to be suitably
dense for slab support (at least 95% of its maximum dry density of 133.1 lbs./cu. ft.).
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client

Footing Excavation
Rep observed contractor use a medium sized excavator to excavate native brown silty sand with gravel material.
The trenches for cast-in-place walls measured approximately 2.5’ x 4’ with a 6’’ lift of pea gravel at the bottom.
While onsite, rep used a ½” steel t-probe and observed the footing subgrade located along the eastern margin of
the site. Rep observed the footing subgrade to be very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for support of the
proposed cast-in-place wall.
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client
