HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE Renton Weatherly Inn - Revision Request (5//21)Jonathan, there are three outstanding items of discussion:
* Sanitary sewer revision. Section 710.0 of the UPC (attached) states that waste water from the lower floor needs to connect downstream of the next upstream manhole. There appears
to be some layering between the City’s code and UPC. This is a private sewer line. The approved plans showed connections to the main downstream of the manhole too; we just added another
manhole to comply with the UPC.
* Recommendation: keep sanitary sewer as installed.
* Storm revision. As discussed below, this was modified due to a conflict with power. This is a private storm line. Modifying this to go back to the original design does not provide
any advantages to the City or the owner.
* Recommendation: keep storm drain as installed.
* Water revision. There is a conflict with the power. There is also a bell on the water line where the connection is to be made. The proposed revision eliminates the conflict with
the bell and allows to power to stay as-is.
Thanks for your consideration and review. Please keep us posted regarding your thoughts at your earliest convenience.

Ross,
Please follow the approved design suggestion provided to you by the Water Utility Manager (see attached). If you have any questions regarding the design suggestion, please let me know.
With regards to the video meeting, my hours have been reduced due to furloughs/Covid-19, so I am not entertaining any meetings other than staff meetings right now, due to my heavy workload.
The best way to request design changes is via email. If you feel like there is other justification that would support the design change requests submitted on 5/11/2020, please email
those to me and I will try my best to get to them as soon as possible.
Best Regards,
Jonathan Chavez, P.E.

Jonathan,
Mark alerted me to the vertical clearance requirements. I have modified the RFI response to show 18” vertical separation instead of 6”.
We’d still like to have a video conference with you regarding the other revisions, but this water approval is urgent. Can you please provide the City’s blessing as soon as possible.
Thanks,

Jonathan, curious to see if the City had a chance to review the water revision sent last week.
Also, there was a conflict with the SE fire hydrant and storm drain. I’m recommending twisting the valve and installing a vertical bend with restrained joint to get under the storm
drain. Please see attached for response to the RFI.
Please respond at your earliest convenience regarding these two matters.

Jonathan, we received additional as-built information today regarding the conduit. The sewer plan has been revised to show the full alignment of the conduit. We are not seeing the
water/storm conflict.
Regarding sewer and storm revisions….that was my fault. I thought they were minor revisions and didn’t think they were major enough to send to the City for review. My apologies for
that and will be more considerate in the future. Below is summary regarding why revisions were made during construction:
* Storm: added CB #26 to avoid a conflict with temporary power.
* Sewer: in order to comply with UPC section 710.0, we needed to add a SSMH that had a rim lower than the FFE with the side sewer stubbed into the line downstream of the SSMH.
Please let me know if you have any additional comments.

Good morning Ross,
I’m working with our water department on this review and a couple of comments came up:
* We need to see the full alignment of the installed conduit in conflict with the water main.
* The revision plans show utilities in different alignments than what was on the approved plans (i.e. storm and sewer mains).
* The storm line also appears to be in conflict with the new water main.
* Please provide updated plan or explain the re-alignment and why it was not submitted for a major field change.
Thank you,
Jonathan

Due to a conflict with power, we are proposing a minor revision near the connection to the City’s water main (attached). It is my understanding that they are scheduled to complete this
work on Thursday. We’d appreciate an expedited review/approval. Please let me know if you have any comments or need anything else.
