CALL TO ORDER In Attendance The following were present: Members: Larry Reymann, Cynthia Burns, AI Dieckman, Mike O'Donin,Tim Searing, Troy Wigestrand, Marlene Winter Staff: Terry Higashiyama, Sandy Pilat, Leslie Betlach, Kelly Beymer, Terry Flatley, Tim Williams,Tim Moore, Peter Renner Guests: Peter Maas, Kenny Rogers, Lora Ueland, Brian Vanhouten, Roxanna Johnson, Rudy Case Chair, Larry Reymann, called the May 8, 2012, meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Roll call was taken; all members were present. II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA AI Dieckman made a motion, seconded by Troy Wigestrand to approve the agenda as presented. All were in favor, motion carried, the May 8, 2012, agenda was approved as written. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Cynthia Burns and seconded by Marlene Winter to approve the April 2012 minutes as written, all were in favor, motion carried. ORAL COMMUNICATION/PUBLIC COMMENTS Rudy Case introduced himself as President of Renton Trails. He introduced Brian Vanhouten, Vice President; Laurie Ueland, Secretary; and Roxie Johnson, Board Member. He explained their goal was to partner with the City to create and maintain soft surface trails within the open spaces and communities of Renton and surrounding areas. They intend to maintain a registry of volunteers to assist the City in trail work. Currently they have a website to assist in informing others about their organization and events. There is no fee to belong to the organization. Additional information can be obtained at their web site Rentontrails.org V. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS Peter Renner, Facilities Director, introduced Kenny Rogers, Renton Pavilion Event Center, Rain City Catering. Peter gave a brief history of the Pavilion and Spirit of � Washington. Kenny and the City have a common goal for Rain City Catering to be successful and they are working toward that goal. Creativity is a must due to budget constraints. Additionally, Kenny caters for various sports teams. Several mentions were made about the excellent quality of the food that is served. Tim Moore, GIS Coordinator, gave an overview for the multiple functions of the mapping system available on the City website. The City has a collection of GIS maps in PDF format and applications to create custom maps and research property information such as boundaries, address, zoning, land-use, natural features and more. Links to Washington State and King County are also provided. Additionally, he previewed the Veterans Memorial tile look-up tool they are finalizing. More information on that will be forthcoming. VI. ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT Terry distributed the Liberty Park Library Building Steering Committee Report. She indicated the downtown library site would go on a ballot August 7. People seeking information should look at the explanation and facts online, as well as the PROs and CONs that will be in the voters' pamphlet. Terry reinforced any discussions the Board Members may have outside of our meetings should be known that they are personal individual's opinions NOT a statement or position of the Board of Park Commissioners.
