REGULAR MEETING

Attendees: Jim Phelan, Russ Olson, Ed Prince, Valerie O’Halloran, James
Matthew, Wendy Rittereiser, Leslie Clark and Maria Sahagun
CALL TO ORDER
Jim Phelan called the meeting to order at 9:00 am.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
James Matthew moved to approve July 28, 2020 minutes. Ed Prince seconded.
Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Discussed the memo mailed to retirees on 8/17/2020.
NEW BUSINESS
Retiree #5468 – Wendy Rittereiser informed the Board that she approved
reimbursement for retiree out-of-network dental expenses in the amount of
$106.80, as the member was unaware that his dentist was out of network. The
member was advised that since he now knows that the dentist is out of network
he will be responsible for the higher cost of future claims. The member wrote to
the Board asking them to approve payment of the excess cost for all future
claims with this out-of-network dentist.
Russ Olson moved and Ed Prince seconded to deny the request. There are other
in-network dentist in the area that the member could choose, or he could ask his
dentist to join the network and agree to HMA’s rate structure. Motion carried.
Annual election Process: Jim Phelan discussed the election process. The Police
representative position and the Council position held by Ed Prince expire on
12/31/2020. The Fire representative, at large member, and Council position held
by Valarie O’Halloran expire on December 31, 2021. Jim asked staff to remind
the Mayor of the expiration of Ed Prince’s term.
Long Term Care – Maria Sahagun reported that there are two retirees currently
approved for Long Term Care.

Ed Prince moved and Russ Olson seconded to adjourn. Motion carried. James
Phelan closed the meeting at 9:22 a.m.
