Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by RMAC Chair, Mary Clymer at 6:04 pm.
Introduction of guests: Clark and Justin provided background information on the underpass project at the NE
44th St and I-405. Funding has been earmarked for signage in the project, and a potential design for the
monument sign was shared with the Commission. The sign was based loosely off the wayfinding package
prepared for the downtown (through the Civic Core plans) and featured a horizontal blade shape with “Renton”
in block letters. The request from the Commission was more detail about the budget and project timeline and
the possibilities of the Commissioners being more involved in the design process. A subcommittee was formed
to work closely with the CED team to work through the details of the project (both as it relates to the monument
sign and the options for more art in the project. Marsha, Brianna and Bill volunteered to serve on the
subcommittee.
David Brazier introduced his project that brings Erasmus to life in a YouTube series of spoof news reels that
address current issues in Renton as presented by the rooftop dragon. David has been producing these videos
and sharing them on RentonLIVE! He has requested funding from the Arts Commission to sponsor two
upcoming episodes.
