COVID-19 Response and Recovery Funding
COVID-19 Response and Recovery Funding
With health and safety as our top priorities, King County has
invested more than $113 million in our response to the COVID-
19 pandemic and our community’s recovery. Below is a high-level
summary of the federal and state funding we have received,
emergency funding passed by the King County Council for
response and recovery efforts, and our actual spending as of May
31, 2020.
King County has received the following funding from federal and
state agencies:
Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security
CARES) Act: $530 million*
The CARES Act provides for payments to state, local, and
tribal governments navigating the impact of the COVID-19
outbreak.
Washington State Department of Commerce - COVID-
19 Outbreak Emergency Housing Grant: $10.7M
Funding for local governments to create housing necessary
for quarantine, isolation, and additional sanitation to
address the COVID-19 pandemic.
Washington State Department of Health COVID
Funding: $5M
Funding for state, local, territorial and tribal health
departments to carry out surveillance, epidemiology,
laboratory capacity, infection control, mitigation,
communications and other preparedness and response
activities for COVID-19.
Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund:
1.5M

Funding to increase testing capacity and support ongoing
response efforts.
King County expects to receive additional funding from FEMA.
Through two supplemental budget processes, the King County
Council has approved $181.1 million to support response and
recovery efforts.

Transit Administration, HUD, Federal Aviation Administration,
HRSA, PHSSEF and Telehealth.
