Strong Tiger Mountain Homes / Mark Fury Site Works P. Cloudy 50’s THE FOLLOWING WAS NOTED: Associated Earth Sciences, Inc. (AESI) arrived on site in response to a request by the client and grading contractor to observe excavation for a road subgrade. While on site we met with Mark Seek (Tiger Mountain Homes) and Mike Day (Fury Site Works). SE 165th Street Road Subgrade: Upon arrival, we observed that much of the area that will become SE 165th Street was excavated approximately 5-7 feet below existing grade (Figure 1). In the sidewalls of the excavation we observed loose, dark brown to black, fill soil that was excavated and stockpiled nearby. Fury Site Works indicated that they would backfill approximately 1 foot of the road subgrade excavation with 2-to-4-inch crushed, recycled concrete spalls to create a stable road subgrade and working pad for future underground utility installation in the area. The client and grading contractor indicated that the 165th road area would be backfilled with imported fill at a future date. AESI used a ½-inch diameter soil probe to observe the exposed road subgrade before crushed concrete spalls were placed. Probe penetration ranged from 1-3 inches and was observed to be firm and unyielding, free of organic rich fill soils, and suitable for crushed concrete placement. AESI will return as requested by the client and/or grading contractor. Mark Seek and Fury Site Works were notified of all observations while AESI was on site.
