HomeMy WebLinkAboutRefugee or Immigrant InfoThe City of Renton recognized the local refugee population earlier this week, and declared June 20, 2011 "World Refugee Day."
More than 43 million people in the world, including 17 million refugees, have fled their homes as a result of war, persecution, or natural disaster, according to the City's proclamation.
The City has created forums to better connect with Renton's diverse population and is currently working with the Renton Library, Lutheran Community Service Northwest and other agencies
to provide refugees in the area with support and services.
the South King County Refugee Forum meets the third Thursday of every month in the Renton City Hall Council Chambers from 10:00-11:30am.

The Refugee Forum is a membership organization providing information and networking opportunities for those serving refugees in King County, Washington.

General Information
Members and meeting attendees include representatives of resettlement agencies, ethnic community organizations, community based organizations, school districts, healthcare providers,
government agencies and individuals working with refugees. Monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month and each meeting includes a presentation on a topic relevant
to those serving refugees in King County.
