CITY OF RENTON Ι PERMIT CENTER
APPLYING FOR A RE-ROOF PERMIT ONLINE
City of Renton will be utilizing an online portal for Re-Roof Permits. Registration on the site is required:
permitting.rentonwa.gov
Note: A Re-Roof permit is only applicable if replacing roof covering or sheathing on a commercial /multifamily building
or sheathing on a single family residence.
If you are doing structural alterations of roof framing (truss or rafter alterations, heavier weight roofing), plan review is
required and you will need to apply for a Building Permit. Contact the Permit Center for instructions on how to apply.
FROM YOUR CUSTOMER DASHBOARD AFTER SIGNING IN:
You can use the Menu bar and the Apply drop down to navigate to
Permits and select All if your selection is not showing.
STEP 1: LOCATIONS
Click the blue tile and search by either address or parcel. Additional
instructional help at the top of the screen.
Click Next.
STEP 2: TYPE – PERMIT DETAILS
Permit Type will auto-populate to Re-Roof Permit. Add a detailed
description of your project, square footage, and the total valuation. The
item shown in red with an asterisks (*) are required items.
Click Next.
STEP 3: CONTACTS
Your contact information will auto populate as the Applicant. You will need to add the Contractor or Owner based on
who is completing the permitted work. PLEASE NOTE: If a licensed contractor will be doing the work, then add the
contractor in this section. Note that contractor must have a valid state license as well as City of Renton business
license.
Click Next.
STEP 4: MORE INFO – APPLICATION INFO
The items shown in red with an asterisks (*) are required items. For the Project Specifics, please provide as much
information as you can to provide responses to the questions presented.
Certification: If you are doing the work yourself, select YES from the drop down. If a licensed contractor is doing the
work, select No. If the contractor is not entered under your contacts screen, please return there to add the contractor.
Click Next.
STEP 5: ATTACHMENTS
Plan review is not required for this type of permit. Select next to continue.
Click Next.

STEP 6: REVIEW AND SUBMIT
The information that was added in the previous 5 steps will be displayed for review. If you wish to revise or add
information, please use the Back button located in the bottom left hand corner.
Click Submit.
CONGRATULATIONS!
You will be redirected to the Permit Details page to receive additional information about the permit to include the
Permit Number, Status, Workflow and Fees.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
The invoiced fees will be available on the Permit Details Page, accessible from
your dashboard and summarized in the bottom right hand corner of your
dashboard under My Invoices. You have the option to pay multiple invoices at
one time by adding them to your cart and following the payment steps.
Payments may be paid online through MyGovPay, which is our secure and safe
site. Renton, WA and your invoice number will be displayed on the webpage with your total to be paid. Provide your
payment details and click the Pay Now button to submit payment. NOTE: MyGovPay only accepts Visa or Mastercard
credit cards.
