the agenda stood as is: �

corrections were nated and changed. Minutes were approved as corr�cted.

Congratulations to the Renion Pooi players—�hey won the Auburn pool tournament by three games.
A written request 1Nas made to the Renton Communify Found�tion for the Volunzeer Pariy. The funds
will be coming out of th� Donor Approved Fund (this money was donated last year for the party 6}�an
anonymous donor). The Apogee Pub & Eatery and the Renton Vocational Culinaiy Department placed
bids for the food catering—the Apogee was selected but did not provide a cleanup crew. Tom
Ruthoff, director of the Teen Committee, was coniact to see if the Teen Committee would do the
cleanup ai the end of the dinner; he will provide 10-12 students. This group has been a great heip
w/Renton Rivers Days and several other events,_Shawn suggested that we donate $400-$500 to the
group for their work. The question vvas as{ced what this money would be used for—Kris Stimpson said ,
funds might be used ior a possible fie(d trip or for funding their holiday dinner. A request for$800 for
entertainment money was also submitted (this will be a reimbursement, to ihe committee for monies
spend io reserve the entertainment.) This matter is tabled until ihe next meEting.
Shawn extended special thanks for the committee members that attendEd fhe Falling Leaves Festival
event at The LodCe.
The Trash or Treasure: ,�ntique Appraisal v,�as very well attended; in fact three of our committee
members brought some of their"tr2asurers"to be appraised. A special thanks to Pai, Dorothy and
Kay for their pa:�icipation in this event. Shawn feels that this is a worthwhile activity and that the Senior
Center will host this event again.
The Senior Activity Center wiil be hosting iis annual Thanksgiving Dinner—the Renton Rotary along
w/Don Perssons, will be cooking and City of Renton empioyees wifl be serving. The Senior Activity
Center has dispersed 280 free tickets for this eveni. This is a wonde�ul option for.those seniors in the
community to enjoy dinner with their iriends and fiamily.
Shawn asked if tha committee wanted fo hold our Holiday Luncheon meeting on Decemoer 15that
Merrill Gardens. INe did this last year it was a great success. He will contact Shelly, the Merrill
Gardens' general manager, to set things up. He will share fhe details at our December 3�d meeting.

The South Sound Directors will be meeting today. There vJiE! be approximateEy 15-20 merrbers.
In response to Lottie Calhoun's suggestion that tee shirts be purchased for the Bean Bag Basebatl,
-some of the players have e�pressed an interest in a "haY'w/the n[ine on it rathEr than a shirt. Shawn
; ;�wiil conduct a poll and will report the results at the December 3�d meeting.

Kris spoke to Karla's inquiry about Handicap parking located at the rear of the_R�nton Historical
Museum. Kris was not sure if the area is available for more site parE;ing. She further stated thai she
was not sure if the city even owns the property behind the museum parki.ng area and that possibly the
�ront of the Museum would be more feasible. �he will look into the matter fu�her.
The Bazaar, at the Community Cenier, is scheduled for this we�kEnd (Novzmber 2�-22). It is all
decorated and looks great.
Channel 21 -Stiil looking for the scheduie of the Parade and the movie of the Se.nior Center.
Kris spoke to the goals for 2015 and indicated that"Training far Volunteers" �nril! be added to the new
. years' goals. � ,
On November 24, Pat and Marge stafecl that they would be visiting rrmany of the retirernent
establishments in the Renton area. It will be an outreach etfiort. The purpose of these visits wilf be
to share,w/the residents' and representatives' information about the Renton Senior Center and what
we have to offer for iheir residents.
Several suggestions were made as to how to make the community more a�vare of the Renton Se�ior
Activity Center:
Dorothy—suggested a sticicer that could be placed on your car u�indow that names the Renton
Senior Activity Center; and
Shawn—suggested a sticker that would say"I Love the Renton Senior Aciivity Center". These
could be either sold or given avra��.
The question arose as to whether the Senior Center might become a site wl�er� seniors could bring
their"OLD" presc�iptions for disposal. Shirley and Karla both felt that Renton does not have an agency
or siie thai addresses th�is ne�d.
. Eric asked about ihe work going on at the ne�rv library site and vvhaf was the plan. Kris said that
parking would be underground along with some street parking. She will bring pictures to our next -
meeting.
Mij also spoke to the need for a site where seniors would to be able bring their outdatad legal papers
for shreddina.

Pat received a letter from Teresa Rlishi, Recreation Coordinator for the City of Renton Gifted
� Play Recreation Scholarship Program requesting$500 to,provide assistance to qualifying lotv-income
-seniors v�ho would like to participate in qualifying recreation programs such as computer classes,
creaiive arts and the fitness classes that are held at the Renion Senior Activity Center. The funds.will
provide the opportunity to make new friends, participate in a positive and healthy environment and
create lifefong memories. i he 2014 donation of$500 enabEed 13 seniors to �articipate in severai

programs. This enabled the participants to be part of programs that they normally would not be able
to afford. We would greatly appreciate the continuation of your support in 2015. 100%of the donations
go towards providing fees for classes, while the administrative costs are covered by the City of Renton
and not taken out of any monies received.
Shawn noted that all of the donation would go towards seniors only participating at the Renton
Activity Center. Marge Reep made a motion to donate $500 to the Gifted Play Recreation
Scholarship Program, for 2015, Charles Robinson seconded. M/S/P
OLD BUSINESS:
Pat announced that the article "Concerns, Compliments and Conducts" — is ready for placement in
your notebooks. It is attached to your minutes.
�Dorothy stated that Parade Pictures and Plaque are ready to be placed in the Library and Shawn
said that the shadow boxes could be used for this activity. They will be hung on the wall. Shawn and
Dorothy will look at the wall space after the meeting.
Mij stated suggested the following solutions to the space for storing coats/purses in the game room.
Remove the metal hangers and place the heavier plastic hangers on the coat rack (they are easier
to use); have metal coat hooks be "installed so that purses and coats could be hung. Shawn
suggested that the hooks be placed near Milt's computer.
Marge Reep made the motion for the purchase of inetal coat hooks for the game room and Charles
Robinson seconded the motion. M/S/P
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Charles Robinson mentioned the pool room players won by three games.
Ruby asked about how to assist a senior citizen, who was crying, to report a driver that was driving
erratically. She told the rider to call the ACESS supervisor. Shawn told her she did the right thing.
Pat asked Karla to share any information she had on the different modes of transportation for seniors
and how they can be of help for us of all. �
Pat also said if any senior was having an issue with a van driver please make Shawn be aware of the
situation.
