APPI�OVAI, OF AGE1�Ae Pat asked if there were any amendments to the agenda and
there were none. A motion was made by Bill Clapp and seconded by Peggy Budziu to
accept the agenda, motion passed.
APPROV� OF AGENDA/1VIIl�tiTTES: The minutes of August 18th were read,
corrections were noted and minutes were approved.
P1�ES�ENTS RElVIA12I�—President Pat Baylor requested that Sub Committee
reports be turned in the Thursday before a board meeting.

The board members gave a hardy welcome back to Shawn. Shawn shared with the board
members he has never been away from his job for seven weeks. He feels each week of
his recuperation his new knee is feeling better. Shawn gave a thank you to the committee
for the flowers that were sent to him. Shawn expressed his appreciation to Debbie Little
and the great job she did during his absence.
Shawn also gave a welcome to new board members Karla Nuss and Charlie Robinson.
Shawn has a meeting next week to finish up the final draft of the proposed items for the
2015 budget.
The elevator needs a fmal approval before it can be put in operation.

Debbie distributed new name tags to all board members. �
The Rotary Club used the Renton Senior Center Activity Center for an event and Terry
Higashiyama is on the Rotary and she requested they make a donation of 200.00 to the
Renton Senior Activity Center.

The new brochure is out covering the months of October,November and December. This
Wednesday, October 8th will begin our new Wednesday hours. The center will be open
from 9:00 A.M.—9:00 P.M. There will be two staff inembers at the center for the 5:00
P.M. to 9:00 P.M. hours. Laurie Robles who is a week-end staff person and Elaine
Goodman who does the fitness room orientations will be the staff people on duty for the
Wednesday evening sessions. The fitness room and pool room will be open. Additional
classes,presentations and special events will be offered during the evening with special
emphasis on the soon-to-be and newly retired adults.
An upcoming event that has had great enthusiasm is the Trash or Treasure: Antique
Appraisal. Appointments to participate in this event start on October 1 St. The event is
being held Wednesday,November 12�'—6:30 P.M,—8:30 P.M. There is a$5.00
donation.
The Holiday Craft Bazaar is being held Saturday, October 25�' 9:00 A.M.—3:00 P.M.
Lisa Wivag is conducting a four week class every Wednesday on Brain Fitness. There is
a$10.00 fee. Come j oin a fun filled hour and improve your brain fitness.
Pots and Plans is a six-week cooking series that beg-i.ns October 30�' and continues every
Thursday through December 11�'. Refer to your Golden Opportunity brochure for more
details.

Recreation is in full swing at the Community Center with 91% of the programs already
full. That includes the adaptive and special education programs. Collectively the goal is .
to have 2100 participates. Good service and affordable price is always the goa1.
WRITTEN AND/OR ORAL.COMMUloTICATION-
Bill Clapp reported that he sent a thank-you card to Styro Recycle Inc. for their donation
of styrofoam for the duck float. A thank-you card and gift certificate was also sent to
Lud and Maureen Ludwick who had intended to have their car available for the parade.
Unfortunately the car broke down. They will make their car available next year if
needed.
COMMITTEE MEMBER REPOR'I'S
Milt Tiede distributed hand outs regarding Concerns, Compli.ments and Conducts.
There was substantial discussion from board members of the issues on Milt's hand-out
and it was concluded to bring this issue up at the board meeting on October 20�'.
Ruby Griffm gave a tabulation of the visitors that had come to the Senior Center.
Dorothy Cook is to meet with Shawn and determine the plans for displaying pictures
from the Renton River Days parade.

Marge Reep and the Maxketing Committee met with Lisa from the Renton Reporter to
finalize plans for n�r�g the Renton Senior Activity Center ad in the Renton Reporter.
The first ad ran in the September 26�'addition of the paper. The next two dates the ad
will run are October 31St and November 21St. Lisa made a suggestion if we would
consider n�nning a 2 inch by 3 inch ad twice a month for 6 months the cost would be
$105.25. Milt Tiede made a motion that we go with r��nning the ad for the two months
and assess what the response is and then consider n�nning the 2 X 3 inch ad twice a
month for 6 months. Peggy Budziu seconded the motion, committee voted and motion
passed.
