� MOTION—Tiede, 2nd Clapp for a $100 Certificate to be awarded in one

Friendly amend.ment: Budziu, 2nd Clapp to change one month to tvvo weeks.

• `Fire One' found some areas where the Fire Alarm was not laud enough.
They will make improvements. ' .
• The Ikuda Fund stands at $ 718,038. �
• Shawn and Debbie attended the annual conference of -Senior. Center
� Administrators. The 2-day event included speakers and-trauung. One method
. � of bringing subjects to the fore —putting-questions in a hat and t�ian drawing �
.them out for discussions. Shawn also found that no center had special
provisions for the hearing impa.ired.
� 0 A U.W. research study would like to bring display options for medical
information to test for effectiveness. .Participants will receive a $15 gift
certificate. The committee endorsed the idea.

� On 6/16 there will be a fraud seminar from 1:00-2:OOpm. This is not how to
commit fraud, but how to avoid it in your�own economic deals.
• The Senior Center will be closed again for two weeks .- from 9/15 to 9/26..
- There are plans to nave an "Aclios Fiesta" on Friday 9/12. It would include
Mexican Food, Music and Dancers (?). Toreros has been contacted. Bill
Clapp will conduct further negotiations. The participants would be Charged
$2.00 and the Advisory Comr�uttee will donate money for this event. .
MOTION— Tiede, 2nd Haddock, the committee will donate up to $2000 for -
this event— approved. , .
• Committee Replacements = A flyer was shown and will be posted around
the facility. There will also be a call for candidates in the Renton Reporter
ancl on the Renton Civic TV channel 21. Applications should be in by
� 7/11/14 by S:OOpm and interviews will be conducted 7/21-7/22. It was •
stressed that the present members have a big stake in tlie successful �
� , nomination process and should strive to fmd quality candidates. Bill also �
brought up that maybe some ethnic diversity should come into play.
o � There is another Business Plan meeting on 6/11/14: Shawn feels very upbeat
. about the process which should culminate about the end of June.
• On �a personal note — Shawn disclosed that he was scheduled� for knee � .
replacement surgery on 8/18/14 and would be out of circulation for some

• Pat - Volunteer hours for May— Center 636, Nutrition 350, Mea1s on Wheels
212 for a total of 1198 hours complied by 92 volunteers, .
• PatBill —Progress for the "Duck" float is consists of obtaining materials for
the "pond" (Pat brought some samples in) and the Styrofoam for the 6-foot �
, duck. So far $684 have been spend. Bill has a location where the float and
duck will be assembled. Milt volunteered to assist with the carving of the
duck. The next Sub meeting will be 6/9/14 at 10:00am in Special Service �

� Pat needs a $17.94 check for Judith faxewell cake.
� � Shirley related she used an insurance broker for her medical insurance
needs. She offered that tha.t individual could make a presentatian at the
Senior Center on this subject---u�hi�h is of vital zn.teresfi to many seraiors.
� Peggy will sti1l obtain the information for the PIA system.
' s Ruby reported on the Newcomer Survey to where the found out about the
� � Center: Of 6 individuals — 2 got fram a fi�.end (of which one got it from the
w�bsite}, 1 fram the son, 2 fram the website, 1 came In for S�I[BA services,
Three had recently moved here.
NOTE: This shows that one of the options on the survey form should
be `Website'.
* Sandy brought up a complaint fram the lulach service—that there were times
tivhen na `deca� coffee was available at lunch. The answer was that �e
coffee is not part of the nutrition program and the supply is donated.
