Supplementary Report:
At the client’s request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe and test utility trench backfill at the Weatherly Inn
development.
Utility Trench Backfill:
ESNW rep arrived onsite and observed contractor had backfilled approximately 200’ of 2’x2’ trench along the
North margin of the site for a 2’’ schedule 40 PVC conduit. ESNW rep observed contractor had added water to
material in order to reach optimum moisture. ESNW rep used a ½’’ steel T-probe and observed the backfill to be
suitably dense, firm, and unyielding. ESNW rep observed that the contractor had achieved minimum
compaction standards of 95% or greater in tested locations.
Light Pole Basins:
ESNW rep observed contractor excavating approximately 5’ basins for light poles. ESNW rep used a ½’’ steel
T-probe and to probe the light pole basins and recommended over-excavation and backfill with
structural material such as quarry spalls and woven geotextile fabric in the light pole basin adjacent to
Catch Basin #7.
ESNW rep will return as requested to continue observation and testing of further earthwork activities.

Supplementary Report:
At the client’s request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe light pole basin backfill and test stormwater line backfill
at the Weatherly Inn development.
Stormwater Trench Backfill:
ESNW rep arrived onsite and observed contractor had backfilled approximately 50’ of 4’ deep trench around a
12’’ductile iron pipe running East from the site entrance with 5/8’’ minus crushed rock compacted in 12’’ lifts to
grade with a jumping jack. ESNW rep observed contractor adding water to material in order to reach optimum
moisture. ESNW rep used a ½’’ steel T-probe and observed the subgrade to be suitably dense, firm, and
unyielding. ESNW rep observed that the contractor had achieved minimum compaction standards of 95%
or greater in tested locations.
Light Pole Basin:
ESNW rep observed contractor had backfilled 4.5’-5’ of concrete light pole bases in locations marked on plans
below. ESNW rep observed contractor had used 1 ¼’’ crushed recycled concrete compacted in 12’’ loose lifts
with a jumping jack. ESNW rep used a ½’’ steel T-probe and observed the backfill to be dense, firm, and
unyielding.
ESNW rep will return as requested to continue observation and testing of further earthwork activities.
