Steve & Lisa, This report is in addition to the original Tree Inventory Report dated May 8, 2021. Only the trees within the property are identified in this document for ease of location and to determine a new tree planting plan. The included survey map shows the location of trees on site. Tree Inventory Table (On-Site): Tag # Species DSH LOD Viable Condition 5002 Oregon ash Fraxinus latifolia 12.6” 7.8” [14.8”] 18.0’ No North stem has excessive decay. Restricted root area. Canopy topped several years ago. Probable risk of large part failure. Not viable because of decay and poor conditions. 5014 Big-leaf maple 9.5” 10.5” [14.2”] 16.0’ Yes Tree was topped several years ago. No sign of decay. Rope embedded in part of the trunk. Improbable risk of whole or large part failure. 5021 Sweetgum Liquidambar styraciflua 14.4” 17.0’ Yes Sturdy tree with no signs of decay, disease, or structural defects. Improbable risk of whole tree or large part failure. ______ Trees in shoreline setback. 2 There are five (5) trees that are entirely within the property. Two (2) of the trees are not suitable for preservation which leaves three (3) viable trees. 30% of the three (3) viable trees must be retained. Retaining one (1) viable tree is required [(3 trees x 0.30) = 0.9, or 1 tree]. All the viable trees in the Retention Table are within and limit the buildable area. All viable trees need to be removed to obtain a maximum buildable area. The Lot requires a tree density of two (2) significant trees for every 5,000 square feet (SF), or the combination of existing trees and new trees equivalent to 12 inches in diameter. This lot is 29,236 SF and therefore requires a tree density of six (6) significant trees (29,236 SF / 5,000 SF = 5.8, or 6 significant trees). Six (6) significant trees are equal to a minimum of 36 inches in total diameter. The minimum size for new trees to comply with tree density are 2” caliper trees (deciduous) or evergreen (conifer) trees at least 6 feet tall (Code 4-4-130.H.1.e.). The addition of eighteen (18) new trees of minimum size is needed to comply with tree density requirements (18 trees x 2” dia. = 36” tree dia.). The following trees are good choices for residential sites. Smaller, more ornamental species of native trees may include Excelsior cedar (Thuja plicata ‘Excelsior’), Alaskan cedar (Chamaecyparis pendula), Shore pine (Pinus contorta), Pacific yew (Taxus brevifolia), and Mountain hemlock (Tsuga mertensiana) for evergreen types. Deciduous native species appropriate for the site include Serviceberry tree (Amelanchier alnifolia), dogwoods (Cornus nutellii or Cornus ‘Eddie’s White Wonder’), and Vine maple (Acer circinatum). Larger, native evergreen trees include Douglas fir (Psuedotsuga menziesii), Red cedar (Thuja plicata), Western hemlock (Tsuga heterphyllum), Grand fir (Abies grandis), and Engelmann spruce (Picea engelmannii).
