The new driveway would be within our neighborhood development and not part of our very active HOA. The on again off again construction site that has been there for more than a year has been filled with piles of construction debris and trash, port o John’s that never get emptied. They have had dying trees, shrubs and dirt and gravel all over the road on Nile at various times. There has been no general contractor on site managing the various trades that have worked intermittently for over a year on the site. They knocked down trees and left rubble everywhere. Since they would not be part of our HOA and they would modify the street, I’m afraid our neighborhood would have to look at the mess for a very long time. Debris would possibly flow into NE 6th St. and neighbors yards due to lack of drainage. Shamrock neighborhood would also lose some parking capacity on the north side of the street. The biggest issue is a safety issue as our neighborhood has many children that play on the street and we have a playground adjacent. Since NE 6th St. is already a hill, the topography of the subdivision would add the driveway perpendicular to the existing hill. Would be very difficult to see cars coming out of the proposed driveway or children coming down the hill on bikes from the point of view of the driveway. Our hope is that the owner and developer will be considerate of the existing neighborhood, HOA, stormwater runoff and drainage issues and site safety and appearance and most importantly, our children’s safety.
