Re: Appeal of Varma Short Plat
Dear Mr. Hearing Examiner:
I wish to appeal the decisions of the Varma Short Plat based on information about the schools – the
schools are in the Issaquah School District, yet one sentence in that section states that the schools
are in the Renton School District.
Another item I wish to appeal is the tree retention section. Renton has a policy of requiring trees to
be “saved”. However, what happens in reality is that clear cutting takes place. I have talked to DOE
and they state that the preliminary plat is a legal document and if it says that the trees will be saved,
then they need to be saved.
In addition, the city did not follow state law when it comes to surface water. A Bellevue Land-use
attorney gave me a copy of case law from 1999 Washington State Supreme Court ruling on surface
water flow. I am not an attorney but I think I understand what the case is about. I gave a copy of this
document to Ms. Dolbee and Mr. Morganroth. I understand the flow of water from this property as I
lived on it for 20 years before I moved out and then another 6 while taking care of my mother.
In addition, I want to let you know about how Renton City officials protect the environment while
making sure Mr. Varma follows city ordinances and laws regarding construction.
Thank you.
