1. NUMBERS INDICATE THE BENT NUMBER AND LETTERS
INDICATE THE PILE OR STRINGER LOCATION. BENT
NUMBERING BEGINS AT 1 ON THE SOUTH END OF THE
BRIDGE AND INCREASES TO THE NORTH (SEE PLAN
VIEW). PILE AND STRINGER LETTERING BEGIN AT A ON
THE WEST SIDE OF THE BRIDGE AND INCREASE TO THE
EAST (SEE SHEET S-2).

1. ALL MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP SHALL CONFORM TO THE
WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (WSDOT)
2018 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD, BRIDGE AND
MUNICIPAL CONSTRUCTION AND AMENDMENTS, THE CURRENT WSDOT
STANDARD PLANS, AND KING COUNTY STANDARDS UNLESS
INDICATED OTHERWISE BY THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.
2. UNDERGROUND UTILITIES MAY EXIST IN THE AREA OF
CONSTRUCTION. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO
CONTACT ANY AND ALL UTILITIES IN THE AREA AND FIELD VERIFY
THESE LOCATIONS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. THE ONE -CALL
NUMBER FOR UNDERGROUND UTILITIES IS: 1-800-424-5555. IT IS
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO NOTIFY THE
ENGINEER PROMPTLY OF ANY CONFLICT. LOCATED UTILITIES SHALL
BE MARKED WITH A CARSONITE MARKER AND ADDED TO THE
AS -BUILT DRAWINGS. PROVIDE THE ENGINEER WITH A LIST OF
LOCATED UTILITIES.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THE
INTEGRITY OF ADJACENT UTILITIES WHICH MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE
NOT LIMITED TO: WATER, SANITARY SEWER, STORM SEWER, POWER,
TELEPHONE, CABLE TV, IRRIGATION, AND STREET LIGHTING.
4. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO APPROVED WORKING DRAWINGS
AND A COMPLETE SET OF THE APPROVED ROAD AND BRIDGE
PLANS ON SITE WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS.
5. IF THE CONTRACTOR DISCOVERS ANY DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN THE
PLANS AND THE EXISTING CONDITIONS ENCOUNTERED, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE ENGINEER.
6. STORM WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION PLAN SHALL BE INSTALLED
PRIOR TO STARTING ANY EARTHWORK.
7. ACCESS TO THE TRESTLE MAY BE CLOSED DURING CONSTRUCTION,
HOWEVER ACCESS TO THE ADJACENT ROADWAY SHALL BE
MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.
8. ALL DIMENSIONS ON THESE DRAWINGS SHALL TAKE PRECEDENCE
OVER THE INDICATED SCALE. DRAWINGS SHALL NOT BE SCALED
FOR CONSTRUCTION PURPOSES. NO LENGTH OR SHAPE IS IMPLIED
UNLESS IT IS DIMENSIONED.
9. IMPROVEMENTS WERE DESIGNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AASHTO
_RFD BRIDGE DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS, 7TH EDITION, 2014, WITH
2015 AND 2016 INTERIM REVISIONS AND THE WASHINGTON
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (WSDOT) BRIDGE DESIGN
MANUAL, JUNE 2017 EDITION.
10. DESIGN INCLUDES 35 PSF FOR FUTURE WEARING SURFACE.
11. LIVE LOAD INCLUDES 90 PSF PEDESTRIAN LOADING AND H-10
TRUCK CONSISTING OF 4 KIP AND 16 KIP AXLES.
12. CONCRETE SHALL BE CLASS 4000.
13. PROVIDE STEEL PLATES AND SHAPES PER ASTM A36 AND
GALVANIZE PER AASHTO M111.
14. PROVIDE FASTENERS PER ASTM A307, GRADE A OR F1554, GRADE
36, SEE ALSO DETAILS. PROVIDE NUTS PER AASHTO M291.
PROVIDE HARDENED STEEL WASHERS PER AASHTO M293. PROVIDE
RAISED PATTERN MALLEABLE IRON WASHERS PER ASTM A47.
GALVANIZE PER AASHTO M232.
15. PROVIDE STAINLESS STEEL BANDING PER ASTM D3953, TYPE 304
OR TYPE 316. BANDING SHALL BE J" MIN. WIDTH WITH 2,000
POUND MIN. BREAKING STRENGTH.
16. TIMBER SHALL BE DOUGLAS FIR -LARCH NO. 1. TREAT TIMBER PER
AASHTO M133.
17. RE -USE SALVAGEABLE EXISTING TIMBER BACK WALL MEMBERS AS
DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER.
18. ALL PRECAST CONCRETE BRIDGE DECK PANELS SHALL BE
POSITIONED AND SHIMMED TO GRADE PRIOR TO SECURING DECK
PANEL RESTRAINTS. SEE PRECAST BRIDGE DECK PANEL DETAILS
SHEET.
