HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE BCE#18396 Forest Terrace Vault Questions.Hi Michael, We don’t have this type of platform/grate in any of our vaults currently. Our intent when cleaning is to avoid entry. This grate would require you to enter the structure, and open the grate in order to clean the sump. Can we omit it altogether? Good afternoon Richard, Wanted to run this question from the engineer regarding the stormwater vault on the Forest Terrace project. The engineer's questions are in regards to the access grate in the vault sump. They are currently proposing a fiberglass grate with no access panel which I had commented that the need to provide a 24" square hinged access. See the attached figures. They are asking: Can the access panel be removable versus hinged and whether or not we will accept fiberglass? Note that the sump is circular and not a square sump as is usually provided in sumps which may be causing the problem for them. Curious your thoughts and concerns. If you do prefer a hinged access, which direction do you prefer it to swing? Appreciate all your help. Thank you, MICHAEL S. Morning Michael We have a couple questions for you regarding the 24” square hinged access panel in the grate which covers the sump in the vault, see attached: • Is an non hinged opening allowed? • If a hatch is require can we simplify and call for a removable 2ft wide section as shown in the attached • Will the city accepts a fiberglass grating instead of a metal grate? • The last question regards to clearance between the shear gate and the top of the grating. Currently we have 3-inches from the top of the grate to the Static WS elevation. Will this be enough to fit the shear gate in and allow it to operate? Let me know if you would like to discuss the items in more detail.
