HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 44561 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 4456 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING THE BARRIER FREE MOBILITY RENTON: CITY OF RENTON RIGHT-OF-WAY ADA TRANSITION PLAN. WHEREAS, the federal government enacted the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), and its amendments, to prevent discrimination, to extend the protections of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and to ensure equal opportunities for the physically and mentally disabled to employment, public accommodations, commercial facilities, transportation, and services, programs or activities of all state and local governments; and WHEREAS, Title II of the ADA requires that municipalities conduct a self-evaluation of its facilities and policies related to the public rights-of-way to determine what types of access barriers exist for individuals with disabilities, and develop and adopt transition plans to help guide future planning and implementation of necessary accessibility improvements ; and WHEREAS, the City has been and remains committed to meeting or exceeding ADA requirements and to eliminating barriers to public services, activities, programs and facilities; and WHEREAS, the City prepared an ADA Transition Plan, which was adopted by the Council by Resolution No. 4254, passed May 18, 2015; and WHEREAS, the Barrier Free Mobility Renton: City of Renton Right-of-Way ADA Transition Plan will serve as an update to the ADA Transition Plan adopted in 2015; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: RESOLUTIONNO.4456SECTIONI.TheCouncilherebyadoptstheBarrierFreeMobilityRenton:CityofRentonRight-of-WayADATransitionPlan?attachedheretoasExhibitAandincorporatedbythisreference.PASSEDBYTHECITYCOUNCILthis13thdayofDecember,2021.JasoA.Seth,jyClerkAPPROVEDBYTHEMAYORthis13thdayofDecember,2021.ArnPavone,MayorApprovedastoform:ShaneMoloney,CityAttorneyRES:1894:12/10/212 RESOLUTION NO. 4456 3 EXHIBIT A BARRIER FREE MOBILITY RENTON: CITY OF RENTON RIGHT-OF-WAY ADA TRANSITION PLAN
