THE PAVILION

BACKGROUND
•The Civic Core Plan adopted in January 2018
identified some opportunities to reactive and
revitalize the City’s Pavilion
•In May 2019, the City issued a Request for Proposals
for this space
•Two RFP responses were received: The Logan Market
and Pavilion 2.0
•A Selection Committee of various City departments
reviewed and scored the responses AGENDA ITEM #1. a)
BACKGROUND
•The objectives from the RFP were:
-High quality mixed-use development that enhances the
character and economic viability of the City
-Achieve substantial financial benefit to the City of Renton;
both in short term, through compensation received from a
lease of the site, and longer term, whether through various tax
revenues or community -building opportunities
-Develop positive working relationships with existing
organizations and businesses within the downtown core
-Qualifications and experience of the developer and their team
-Financial ability to complete the project in a timely manner AGENDA ITEM #1. a)
BACKGROUND
•The Selection Committee presented the two
proposals and their recommendation on August 19,
2019 at the Committee of the Whole
•Logan Market was the recommended proposal
•Logan Street Market Project: Concepts for a vibrant
marketplace in the Piazza Pavilion honoring Renton’s
history of mining, industry, and manufacturing

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
The Community and Economic Development
Department recommends that Council approve the
request to start design and financial contract
negotiations with the Logan Market team to convert the
Pavilion from its current event space to a year-round
market and public space.AGENDA ITEM #1. a)
NEXT STEPS
•Confirm recommendation with Committee Report.
•CED staff and an internal City team will meet with the
Logan Market to start the design and financial
discussions.
•Proposed design and financial recommendations will
be brought to the Council for review and approval.
•Once approved, CED staff and the internal City team
will work with the Logan Market team to bring this
project to life.
•Council will be updated on the progress during the
