FIRST AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT NUMBER 014 BETWEEN CITY OF RENTON AND
SCHOOL’S OUT WASHINGTON REGARDING:
EXTENSION OF PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
This First Amendment to Contract Number 014 (“First Amendment”) between City of Renton
(“Contractor”) and School’s Out Washington (“SOWA”) dated December 16, 2020, is effective as of
the last date set forth below.
RECITALS
A.Best Starts for Kids (“BSK”) is a voter-approved initiative to improve the health and
well-being of King County, Washington, by investing in promotion, prevention, and early
intervention for children, youth, families, and communities.
B.On December 16, 2020, Contractor and SOWA executed Contract Number 014 (the
“Contract”) in which SOWA agreed to provide BSK grant funding to Contractor in exchange for
services, which ensures that youth have access to high quality Out-of-School-Time programming
across King County.
C.The Contract provides for a period of performance from January 1, 2021 through
December 31, 2021. The Contract further provides that the Contract may be amended at any time by
mutual agreement of the parties in writing.
D.On August 3, 2021, voters in King County approved Proposition 1, which renewed and
increased funding for BSK. In light of this development, and to ensure that the Contract does not
lapse and the Contractor may continue its performance under the Contract beyond December 31,
2021, SOWA and Contractor now desire to amend the Contract to extend the period of performance
through January 31, 2022.
Therefore, the Contract is hereby amended as provided below.
AGREEMENT
Section III is amended to read:
The period of performance for this contract is January 1, 2021 – January 31, 2022 unless the contract
is terminated sooner as provided herein. A contract review will be conducted as part of the semi-
annual reporting process to ensure accurate compliance with Contractor’s Scope of Work (Exhibit A)
and Budget (Exhibit B).
