HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 6053CITYOFRENTON,WASHINGTONORDINANCENO.6053ANORDINANCEOFTHECITYOFRENTON,WASHINGTON,AMENDINGSECTION2-21-4OFTHERENTONMUNICIPALCODE,UPDATINGTHETERMSOFAPPOINTMENTFORTHERENTONREGIONALFIREAUTHORITYGOVERNINGBOARD,PROVIDINGFORSEVERABILITY,ANDESTABLISHINGANEFFECTIVEDATE.WHEREAS,theCityCouncildesirestostaggertermsofCityCouncilappointedRentonRegionalFireAuthorityGoverningBoardmemberssothattheirtermsdonotendatthesametime;NOW,THEREFORE,THECITYCOUNCILOFTHECITYOFRENTON,WASHINGTON,DOORDAINASFOLLOWS:SECTIONI.AllportionsoftheRentonMunicipalCodeinthisordinancenotshowninstrikethroughandunderlineeditsremainineffectandunchanged.SECTIONII.Section2-21-4oftheRentonMunicipalCodeisamendedasfollows:2-21-4TERMSOFAPPOINTMENT—REGULARTERMS:A.Through2021,TthegoverningboardrepresentativesappointedpursuanttoRMC2-21-3shallservedtwo(2)yearregulartermsrunningfromJanuary1ofevennumberedyearsthroughDecember31ofoddnumberedyears.Startingin2022,boardseatsshallbenumberedasSeats1,2,and3andregulartermsshallrotateasfollows:Seat1:TheBoardmemberappointedtoSeat1in2022shallinitiallyservethroughDecember31,2022,andthereaftertheregulartermofappointmentsfor1 ORDINANCENO.6053Seat1shallbethree(3)years(i.e.January1,2023throughDecember31,2025,thenJanuary1,2026throughDecember31,2028);Seat2:TheboardmemberappointedtoSeat2in2022shallinitiallyservethroughDecember31,2023,andthereaftertheregulartermofappointmentsforSeat2shallbethree(3)years(i.e.January1,2024throughDecember31,2026,thenJanuary1,2027throughDecember31,2029);Seat3:TheboardmemberappointedtoSeat3in2022shallinitiallyservethroughDecember31,2024,andthereaftertheregulartermofappointmentsforSeat3shallbethree(3)years(i.e.January1,2025throughDecember31,2027,thenJanuary1,2028throughDecember31,2030).B.IntheeventanappointedboardmembervacateshisorherpositionasaCityofRentonCouncilmember,theboardmembershallbedeemedremovedfromhisorherpositionasagoverningboardrepresentativeandtheCouncilshallappointareplacementtofulfilltheremainingportionoftheregulartermofthevacatedseatpursuanttoRMC2-21-7.SECTIONIII.Ifanysection,subsection,sentence,clause,phraseorworkofthisordinanceshouldbeheldtobeinvalidorunconstitutionalbyacourtorcompetentjurisdiction,suchinvalidityorunconstitutionalitythereofshallnotaffecttheconstitutionalityofanyothersection,subsection,sentence,clause,phraseorwordofthisordinance.SECTIONIV.Thisordinanceshallbeinfullforceandeffectthirty(30)daysafteradoption.Nolaterthanfive(5)dayspriortosucheffectivedate,asummaryofthisordinanceconsistingofitstitleshallbepublishedintheCity’sofficialnewspaper.2 ORDINANCENO.6053PASSEDBYTHECITYCOUNCILthis3rddayofJanuary,2022.I[7JasonA.Seth,CitCIerkAPPROVEDBYTHEMAYORthis3rddayofJanuary,2022.Approvedastoform:ShaneMoloney,CityAttorneyDateofPublication:1/6/2022(Summary)ORD-COUNCIL:2202:12/7/21ArI(,çvone.Mayor3
