In accordance with Renton Municipal code, excavations in street require Renton to be added as an additional insured on the certificate of insurance for the contractor performing the
work. The code provides an exception to that requirement for municipalities or utilities that are self-insured provided that a statement is provided indicating such. Please find attached
the County’s self-insurance letter providing evidence of our status as self-insured. It appears they make one letter per year. We will put a note on our calendar to remind us to provide
you an updated version each year. The County will not be adding the City of Renton as an additional insured due to our self-insurance status and the fact that our insurance requirements
for the contractor meet or exceed the insurance that you are requesting. Thanks!
