GENERAL NOTES
1. PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF WORK, CONTRACTOR MUST VERIFY A MINIMUM
OF 75 LBS. (PSI) STATIC WATER PRESSURE AT EACH POINT OF CONNECTION.
NOTIFY ARCHITECT OF ANY DISCREPANCY.
2. IRRIGATION CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTING ALL
UTILITIES ENCOUNTERED THROUGH THE SCOPE OF HIS WORK.
3. ALL DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC. FIELD VARIANCES MAY OCCUR. NOTIFY
ARCHITECT IMMEDIATELY.
4. MAINLINE LAYOUT IS DIAGRAMMATIC. IT HAS BEEN SHOWN IN HARDSCAPE FOR
PURPOSE OF CLARITY.
5. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY SLEEVING UNDER
HARDSCAPES, I.E. ROADS, SIDEWALKS, ETC., WHETHER SPECIFICALLY INDICATED ON
THE DRAWINGS OR NOT. SLEEVING SHOULD EXTEND 6" BEYOND HARDSCAPE EDGES.
6. LOCATE PIPE NEAR PERMANENT STRUCTURES WHERE POSSIBLE, I.E. ALONG EDGES OF
SIDEWALKS, ETC. LEAVE PIPE SIZING FACE UP IN TRENCH TO FACILITATE REPAIR.
7. ALL UNSIZED TERMINAL LATERAL LINES ARE 3/4" PIPE.
8. SPRINKLER HEADS IN PLANTING AREAS SHOULD BE A MAXIMUM OF 4" FROM
HARDSCAPE EDGES.
9. SPRINKLER HEADS IN LAWN AREAS SHOULD BE 2" FROM HARDSCAPE EDGES.
10. IRRIGATION CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO FINE TUNE ALL NOZZLES ON SITE TO
INSURE COVERAGE AND PREVENT OVERSPRAY.
11. VERIFY CONTROLLER LOCATION IN ELECTRICAL ROOM WITH ARCHITECT.
12. IRRIGATION CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WINTERIZATION OF SYSTEM. SYSTEM
MUST BE WINTERIZED BY BLOWING OUT WITH COMPRESSED AIR.
13. PIPING MAY BE INSTALLED IN A COMMON TRENCH. ALLOW A MINIMUM OF FOUR (4")
INCHES BETWEEN PARALLEL PIPE LINES. LOCATE TRENCHES TO AVOID CONFLICT
WITH INSTALLATION OF TREES & SHRUBS.
14. INSTALL MANUAL DRAIN VALVES ON MAINLINE IN LOW POINTS TO FACILITATE
DRAINAGE FOR FUTURE REPAIRS, MINIMUM OF TWO (2) DRAIN VALVES PER MAINLINE LOOP.
15. COORDINATE INSTALLATION LOCATION OF GLEN HILTON MINI CLIK II RAIN GAUGE
WITH ARCHITECT. INSTALL PER MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS.
16. INSTALL 6" POP UP SPRINKLERS IN SHRUB AREAS ADJACENT TO HEAD IN PARKING STALLS
TO MITIGATE DAMAGE CAUSED BY CAR BUMPERS.
17. IRRIGATION SYSTEMS ARE TO BE INSTALLED AS SHOWN IN THE PLANS AND IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE CRITERIA AND STANDARDS OF THE LANDSCAPE TECHNICAL MANUAL AND OTHER
ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS AS OF THE APPROVED DATE OF THESE PLANS.

NECESSARY LEVELING OF THE TRENCH BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION
MATERIAL AS WELL AS PLACEMENT AND COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDING MATERIAL
TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE PIPE WILL BE SUPPORTED ON
A UNIFORMLY DENSE UNYIELDING BASE. ALL PIPE BEDDING SHALL BE APWA CLASS "C,"
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PVC PIPE. ALL TRENCH BACKFILL SHALL BE COMPACTED TO
MINIMUM 95 PERCENT FOR PAVEMENT AND STRUCTURAL FILL AND 90 PERCENT

ALLOWED UNLESS SPECIFICALLY APPROVED BY CITY OF RENTON DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS, DESIGN ENGINEER.
14. ROCK FOR EROSION PROTECTION OF ROADSIDE DITCHES, WHERE REQUIRED, SHALL BE
OF SOUND QUARRY ROCK PLACED TO A DEPTH OF 1 FOOT AND MUST MEET THE
FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS: 4 INCHES TO 8 INCHES/40 PERCENT TO 70 PERCENT
PASSING; 2 INCHES TO 4 INCHES ROCK/30 PERCENT TO 40 PERCENT PASSING; AND -2
INCHES ROCK/10 PERCENT TO 20 PERCENT PASSING.
15. ALL BUILDING DOWNSPOUTS AND FOOTING DRAINS SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE
STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM UNLESS APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS,
DESIGN ENGINEER OR STORMWATER UTILITY. AN ACCURATELY DIMENSIONED CERTIFIED
