A 6-FOOT HIGH TEMPORARY CHAIN LINK FENCE MUST BE PLACED AROUND THE CRITICAL ROOT ZONE OF TREES TO REMAIN FOUR BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF DEMO & EARTHWORK. NOTIFY THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT TO OBTAIN THE INSPECTION AND WRITTEN APPROVAL OF TEMPORARY PROTECTION FENCING AROUND TREES TO BE SAVED. 2. THE CRITICAL ROOT ZONE (CRZ) FOR A TREE SHALL BE ESTABLISHED ON THE BASIS OF TRUNK DIAMETER. THE CRZ IS A CIRCULAR AREA WHICH HAS A RADIUS OF 1'-3" TO EVERY 1" OF TRUNK DIAMTER AS MEASURED 4.5' ABOVE GRADE. 3. NOTIFY THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT IF PRUNING OF EXISTING TREES TO REMAIN IS REQUIRED FOR CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS OR ACCESS IN ORDER TO OBTAIN THE INSPECTION AND WRITTEN APPROVAL OF TREES TO BE PRUNED. 4. SIGNAGE NOTING THAT TREES WITHIN THE FENCING ARE TO BE SAVED, AND THAT NO MATERIAL STORAGE IS ALLOWED WITHIN THE FENCING SHALL BE PLACED ON THE FENCE IN A CONSPICUOUS LOCATION. 5. NO STOCKPILING OF MATERIAL AND NO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ARE ALLOWED WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE TEMPORARY FENCING. ONLY LIMITED INTRUSION INTO TREE DRIPZONES WILL BE ALLOWED WITH PRIOR APPROVAL OF THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT. RESTRICTIONS: 6. NOTIFY THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT TO OBTAIN INSPECTION AND WRITTEN APPROVAL IF FILLING, EXCAVATING, OR CLEARING MUST OCCUR WITHIN TREE PROTECTION FENCING. WHEN POSSIBLE, FILLING, EXCAVATING AND CLEARING SHOULD ACCOMPLISHED BY HAND METHODS ONLY WITHIN THE TREE PROTECTION FENCING. 7. ROOTS OF TREES TO BE SAVED WHICH ARE DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION WILL BE TREATED IN THE FOLLOWING WAY: FOR DAMAGED ROOTS OVER 1" IN DIAMETER, MAKE A CLEAN, STRAIGHT CUT TO REMOVE THE DAMAGED PORTION OF THE ROOT. ALL EXPOSED ROOTS WILL BE TEMPORARILY COVERED WITH DAMP BURLAP OR WOOD SHAVING TO PREVENT DRYING AND COVERED WITH EARTH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. 8. SEE PLAN FOR LOCATION OF EXISTING TREES TO RECEIVE TEMPORARY FENCING. 9. PER RMC 4-4-130-H.9.f, ALL AREAS WITHIN THE REQUIRED FENCING SHALL BE COVERED COMPLETELY AND EVENLY WITH A MINIMUM OF THREE INCHES (Y) OF BARK MULCH PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF THE PROTECTIVE FENCING. TREES TO BE RETAINED SHALL BE DESIGNATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPROVED TREE RETENTION PLAN ON FILE WITH THE CITY OF RENTON. DESIGNATED TREES WHICH ARE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED SHALL BE REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH RMC 4-4-130 TREE RETENTION AND LAND CLEARING REGULATIONS, OR AS HEREAFTER AMENDED.
