Limitations: The presence of our field representative at the site is to provide our client with a source of professional advice, opinions, and recommendations based upon the field representative’s observations and testing of the contractor’s work. Our services do not include supervision or direction of the contractor, their employees, or agents. Geotechnical recommendations for obtaining project objectives may be made by our representatives; however, direction of the actual work should come from the owner or contractor, as appropriate. The contractor is responsible for complying with the contract documents at all times, regardless of the presence of our field representative. Jobsite safety, including compliance with all applicable state or federal regulations, is the sole responsibility of the contractor. The observations, recommendations, and conclusions provided in this field report are preliminary until reviewed by the ESNW project manager.
Per client request, ESNW rep arrived onsite at the Weatherly Inn development to observe and document wall subgrade excavation and slope conditions. While onsite the following was observed: Cast-In-Place Wall Excavation Observations: ESNW rep arrived onsite per request to continue observation and documentation of ongoing cast in place wall construction within the central areas of the Weatherly Inn development. ESNW rep observed that upon arrival the contractor was completing final grading within the areas of completed wall subgrade, and continuing excavation of the subgrade westward. ESNW rep utilized a ½” diameter steel footing probe to probe the newly completed areas of wall subgrade
and observed very dense soils conditions in the locations probed. These conditions are considered suitable for the support of the proposed cast in place wall footing. Upon return at the end of day, ESNW rep observed that the contractor was ending excavation and export for the day and beginning to place anchored plastic sheeting coverage along the excavation cut faces. Wall Excavation Slope Stability Observations: The slopes of the excavation were observed to be stable and unchanging in its current temporary
configuration, however it is the responsibility of the contractor to perform all necessary safety measures in accordance with state and federal regulations. It is recommended that the contractor inform ESNW if any
changes in the slope conditions occur. Please refer to the attached plan detail and photo documentation provided below. ESNW rep will return per request of the client.
