A communication was read from the King County Labor Council requesting the establishment of a crosswalk at Wells St. and Grady Way near the Puget Sound Paver & Light Co. Building. It was moved by Bruce, seconded by Dullahant to refer this request to the Street and Alley Committee. Carried. A letter from the City Engineer to The Boeing Airplane Co. . relative to the traffic movement on Logan Street North was read. This letter stressed action which should be taken to alleviate part of the hazardous traffic problems in this area. It was moved by Delaurenti, seconded by Poli, to refer this correspondence to the Street and Alley Committee for further discussion. Carried. A request carrying the joint signatures of Northwest Truck Sales and Bodcaw (Pope Ford Co.) was read, requesting the assignment of the Use Permit granted Pope Ford Co. for the use and occupation of that area of property located between the improved portion of Rainier Avenue (Primary State Highway Noo 5) and the property owned by the Bodcaw Co. at 111 Rainier Avenue North. Moved by Johnson, seconded by Poll, to refer this rec'uest to the Property Committee for recommendation. Carried. A petition was read from St. Matthew Lutheran Church requesting vacation of "G" Street, which street is entirely surrounded by the property;- awned by St. Matthew's. Moved by Bruce, seconded by Delaurenti, to refer this petiton to the Street and Alley Committee, the Planning Commission and the Ci ty Engineer. Carried. Further discussion at this point emphasized that such street vacation must receive the concurrence of the adjacent property owners and therefore a public hearing should be set and the City Attorney instructed to prepare the necessary Resolution to cover. Moved by Garrett, seconded by Delaurenti, to set May 7,1 1962 as the date of public hearing and that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the Resolu- tion to cover. Carried. A complaint was read from Mrs. Elsa Gregoris relative to the burning of residue and waste in the industrial-zoned area of Talbot Hill. Moved by Dullahant, seconded by Bruce,to refer thin matter to the Fire Chief for investigation and to report back. Carried. A Claim instituted by Donald Lloyd Daves, in the amount of U5,000 as a result of an accident on Mar.9th due to the inoperation of signal lights at the intersection of Renton, Rainier and Airport Way, was read by the Clerk0 Moved by Delaurenti, seconded by Garrett, to refer this claim to the City Attorney and the Insurance Commissioner. Carried, The City Clerk called Council's attention to the expiration on December 31, 1962 of Public Law 85-579 which extends the period for which payments in lieu of taxes may be made with respect to certain real property transferred by the Reconstruction Finance Corporation and its subsidiaries to other governmental departments. In order to properly determine anticipated revenues for our prelim- inary budget, Council's wishes relative to supporting the extension of this law for another two-year period was requested.
