Sewall Wetland Consulting, Inc. PO Box 880 Phone: 253-859-0515 Fall City, WA 98024 Kendall/#15-194 Sewall Wetland Consulting, Inc. January 3, 2016 Page 2 The site consists of an irregular shaped property of two abutting parcels. The parcels contain two single family homes, a mobile home, numerous outbuildings and a Christmas tree farm with a total area of 4.79 acres and located within the NW ¼ of Section 14, Township 23 North, Range 5 East of the W.M. METHODOLOGY Ed Sewall of Sewall Wetland Consulting, Inc. inspected the site on December 28, 2015. The site was reviewed using methodology described in the Washington State Wetlands Identification Manual (WADOE, March 1997). This is the methodology currently recognized by the City of Renton and the State of Washington for wetland determinations and delineations. The site was also inspected using the methodology described in the Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual (Environmental Laboratory, 1987), and the Western Mountains, Valleys and Coast region Supplement (Version 2.0) dated June 24, 2010, as required by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Soil colors were identified using the 1990 Edited and Revised Edition of the Munsell Soil Color Charts (Kollmorgen Instruments Corp. 1990). OBSERVATIONS The site consists of a flat property with a slight slope to the southwest to the low point near the southwest corner. The site contains two residential homes, a mobile home, scattered outbuildings, a horse pasture, as well as a small Christmas tree stand. Gravel driveways access the site off 4th and generally the site has had significant historical disturbance from land clearing and conversion to farmland as well as construction of the various structures and septic systems. The site is surrounded by development with existing subdivisions locate immediately to the west, a single family home to the east, immature forested area to the south and NE 4th Street to the north. Kendall/#15-194 Sewall Wetland Consulting, Inc. January 3, 2016 Page 3 OBSERVATIONS Existing Site Documentation. Prior to visiting the site, a review of several natural resource inventory maps was conducted. Resources reviewed included the National Wetland Inventory Map and the NRCS Soil Survey online mapping and Data, the King County iMap website with wetland and stream layers activated, and the WDNR Fpars water type mapping website. King County iMap website According to the King County iMap website (see Vicinity map page 1 of this report), there are no wetlands or streams on or near the site. National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) There are no wetlands mapped on or near the site on the National Wetland Inventory Map of the area of the site. Soil Survey According to the NRCS Soil Mapper website, the site is mapped as Alderwood gravelly loam (map unit AgC). Alderwood soils are moderately well drained soils formed in glacial till and are not considered a wetland or hydric soils according to the publication Hydric Soils of the United States (USDA NTCHS Pub No.1491, 1991). January 3, 2016 Page 5 WADNE Fpars Stream Mapping The Washington Department of Natural Resources Fpars stream type mapping website depicts no streams on or near the site. Above WDNR Fpars water type mapping of the site Field observations Uplands As previously described, the site consists of several land uses including single family homes, septic drainfields, gravel driving and parking areas, as well as an area used as a small Christmas tree plantation, and a fenced pasture area. The southern end of the site is an area of fallow farmland that has overgrown with blackberry and weedy species. Kendall/#15-194 Sewall Wetland Consulting, Inc. January 3, 2016 Page 6 Above: Oblique view of site looking easterly. The Christmas tree farm located in the northwest quarter of the site contains several species of planted Christmas trees such as noble fir and douglas fir, as well as orchard grass and tall fescue. Much of the site is maintained lawn and grass areas with scattered landscape trees. The southern portion of the site contains large thickets of Himalayan blackberry as well as some patches of reed canary grass. Most of this area is abandoned pasture areas where horses and livestock once grazed. There are several small scattered patches of reed canary grass in this area. However, none of these areas had hydric soils or evidence of wetland hydrology. Soil pits excavated throughout the site revealed high chroma, non- wetland soils with colors ranging from 7.5YR 3/2-10YR43/6. All were found to be dry. Kendall/#15-194 Sewall Wetland Consulting, Inc. January 3, 2016 Page 7 Conclusion No wetlands, streams or buffers are located on the site.
