CityofRentonDepartmentofCommunity&EconomicDevelopmentRoutineVegetotionMonagementPermit900SW16thStTreeRemoval/ReplacementLUA16-000553,RVMP,YES1.Thelandclearingandtreeremovalwillnotcreateorcontributetolandslides,acceleratedsoilcreep,settlementandsubsidenceorhazardsassociatedwithstronggroundmotionandsoilliquefaction.Comments:WhilethesubjectsiteislocatedwithinanidentifiedSeismicHazardArea,theproposalwouldnotcontributetohazardsassociatedwithstronggroundmotionandsoilliquefaction.YES2.Thelandclearingandtreeremovalwillnotcreateorcontributetoflooding,erosion,orincreasedturbidity,siltationorotherformofpollutioninawatercourse.Comments:ThesubjectsiteislocatedwithinanidentifiedFloodHazardArea;however,itisnotanticipatedthattheremovalofthesubjecttreeswouldcontributetflooding(thereisnochangetocompensatorystorage,asthecurrenttreeswillbeimmediatelyreplaced),erosion,orincreasedturbiditysiltation.YES3.LandclearingandtreeremovalwillbeconductedtomaintainorprovidevisualscreeningandbufferingbetweenlandusesofdifferingintensityandconsistentwithapplicablelandscapingandsetbackprovisionsoftheRentonMunicipalCode.Comments:Notapplicable.YES4.Landclearingandtreeremovalshallbeconductedinawaysoastoexposethesmallestpracticalareaofsoiltoerosionfortheleastpossibletime,consistentwithanapprovedbuild-outscheduleandincludinganynecessaryerosioncontrolmeasures.Comments:TheapplicanthasproposedtoremovetheexistingtreesandimmediatelyreplantwithAmelanchierAutumnBrillianceand/orPrincessDianavarieties(alsoknownasServiceBerry).Itisnotexpectedthatanarealargerthanneededfortreeremovalandreplacementwouldbeexposedandsubjecttoerosion.YES5.LandclearingandtreeremovalshallbeconsistentwithsubsectionD2ofthisSection,RestrictionsforCriticalAreas—General,andRMC4-3-050—CriticalAreasRegulations.Comments:ThelandclearingandtreeremovalshallbeconsistentwithsubsectionD2ofSection4-4-130,aswellasRMC4-3-050-RestrictionsforCriticalAreas—General,andCriticalAreasRegulations.Therearenowetlandsorwetlandbuffersintheproximityofthesite.Seeseismicandfloodhazardsaboveinsubsectionsa.andb.respectively.YES6.Retainedtreeswillnotcreateorcontributetohazardousconditionsastheresultofblowdown,insectorpestinfestation,disease,orotherproblemsthatmaybecreatedasaresultofselectivelyremovingtreesandothervegetationfromthelot.Comments:Thetreesproposedforremovalwereoriginallyplantedasornamentaltreesandarenotapartofastandoftrees,significantlyreducingtheriskofblow-down.Furthermore,theproposedAmelanchiertreeswouldaddvarietytotheexistingtreesonthesubjectsiteandserveforbirdhabitat.Theincreasedvarietyreducestheriskofinsectandpestinfestationanddiseasethatcouldeliminateallthetreesatthesubjectsiteifavarietyoftreetypesisnotprovided.Page2of4
