HomeMy WebLinkAbout3.32 Letter of Understanding Geologic Risk December 1, 2016 TO: City of Renton FROM: Todd Thomas, PE Vice President Facilities SUBJECT: LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING GEOLOGIC RISK This letter acknowledges that the applicant, or the owner of the site, understands and accepts the risk of developing in an unstable area and that he or she will advise, in writing, any prospective purchasers of the site, or any prospective purchasers of structures or portions of structures on the site, of the unstable potential of the area. The proposed new Medical Office Building (MOB) is not mapped within an erosion or slide hazard area, but is mapped adjacent to steep slopes (slopes greater than 20% and less than 40%). These slopes are man-made and the new project will either remove the entire slope or not modify existing slopes. The new development will either improve slope stability or not negatively impact slope stability. The proposed garage is adjacent to an erosion and steep slope (slopes greater than 40%) hazards. Erosion control will be designed per code by the civil engineer and will not introduce runoff onto the adjacent slope. The garage will require an excavation to construct the below grade portion of the building where it is adjacent to the slope. By constructing the building, the slope stability will be improved and the development should not have a negative impact to the existing steep slope.
