RE: Year 1 Monitoring Report parcel 334210‐3365 (LUA15‐000761)
Dear Mr. Herrera:
With this letter report, we are submitting the Year 1 monitoring report required by the City of
Renton Critical Areas Exemption permit project number LUA15‐000761 for buffer enhancement
planting.
Project Summary
The Tran property (Parcel number 334210‐3365) is located at 2816 Kennewick Place NE in the
City of Renton (Figure 1). This parcel lies approximately 600 feet east of I‐405 in the developed
urban neighborhood of Kennydale. In August 2015, 7K Environmental was contracted to assist
Alyssa Tran and Tony Ly with permit preparation for buffer enhancement plantings which will also
provide visual privacy from adjacent properties and help to limit trespass in the stream buffer
adjacent to their home. This buffer enhancement work was permitted under LUA15‐000761.
Figure 2 provides the Site Plan for this project. A Year 1 monitoring report was required with
this permit. Note that during the course of permitting, a secondary project, now permitted as
LUA16‐000307, was developed related to the adjacent stream. This monitoring report
addresses only the buffer enhancement planting.
Year 1 Monitoring Results
Enhancement plantings of native shrubs and herbs were installed in November 2015. Installed
species included tall Oregon grape (Mahonia aquifolium), sword fern (Polystichum munitum)
and wild strawberry (Fragaria vesca). Oregon grape was installed at approximately 3 foot on‐
center paralleling the northeast property boundary (Photograph 1). Several of the shrubs were
replaced in‐kind during the summer 2016. As of December 2016, the installed shrubs and herbs
remain in place and appear healthy (see photographs 1‐4). No further work is proposed on the
buffer enhancement planting under this permit.
With this report we assume the permit for LUA15‐000761 will be closed and finalized. Please
contact us if you have any further questions or concerns regarding this project. I can be
reached at Kate@7KEnvironmental.com or by cell at 206‐683‐7229.
Sincerely,
Kate Knox Machata
