Subject:Humane Pet Store Ordinance Needed
Hello Mayor Pavone & Council members:
My name is Elizabeth A. Rogers, and I am a long-time resident of Renton, Washington.
I am reaching out to you today to ask the Council to please pass a humane pet store ordinance. Currently,
Renton has no puppy-selling pet stores within city limits. By passing an ordinance now, you will protect your
constituents from purchasing a potentially sick animal as Washington puppy selling stores are sourcing from
puppy mills. You will also protect your constituents from the high interest pet loans that these puppy-selling
stores offer. Consumers will still have the option to adopt from their local shelter or rescue or visit and
purchase from a reputable breeder.
I would love to see Renton, the city I call home, join the more than 370 other localities nationwide and pass a
humane pet store ordinance.
Thank you for your time and attention to this important issue. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth A. Rogers
