Subject:In Support of a Ban on Retail Puppy Sales Without Exception
Hello,
I am writing to express my support of the proposed ban on retail puppy sales and my strong opposition to the
potential exception. I am in support of a humane ordinance, with no exceptions. Puppy mills never have the
welfare of the animals in mind; they are a for‐profit business modeled much like large industrial chicken
growing & processing plants. Only the chickens don't have to live through the rest of the sequence.
I will not go on a diatribe here about the (mis)treatment of animals involved in puppy mills. I expect that you
are intelligent people & have already done your research. Hopefully you have concluded that stores
advertising puppies for sale source them from places that do not have the animals' best interests in mind, only
profit. Allowing this kind of commerce to continue promotes the mistreatment of animals in a way I would not
expect from a "civilized" nation.
