Subject:Please pass a humane pet sales ordinance in Renton

Dear Ms.:
I am a Renton citizen and I am writing to thank you for your continued work on Dā194, a humane ordinance that would
prevent pet stores from partnering with commercial breeders to sell puppies in our city. As a city resident, I am also
asking you to recommend that the Renton City Council pass a full ban on the retail sale of puppies in pet stores.
Not only would this stop the puppy mill to pet store pipeline in Renton, but it would protect city residents from
potentially buying sick puppies and getting locked into predatory loans with high interest rates. This ordinance would
still allow reputable breeders to sell their animals directly to the public and animal rescue organizations to find dogs and
cats homes through adoption. Lastly, this solution would help ensure that local shelters don't bear the burden of pet
store sales gone wrong when these animals are abandoned or surrendered.
Please consider supporting a humane ordinance that would prevent pet stores from selling puppies.
Thank you for your continued work on this important issue.
Sincerely,
Teri Stehr
