(AESI) was on site part-time at the request of Jerry Jr. with Continental Dirt Contractors (CDC). While on-site we observed stripping activities as CDC crews used dozers and excavators to remove topsoil. AESI recommended removing all topsoil until reaching the native till soils on-site. After talking with the grading/stripping crew, the contractor stated that some softer soils were observed in the south portion of the site adjacent to NE 10th St as well as underground utilities were observed. It is our understanding that the soft soils and old utilities are due to demolition, removal, and temporary backfill of homes that used to sit on the south portion of the site. CDC stated that they were aware of the fills in this area and that grading will occur in the near future and soft soils would be addressed as needed. AESI will return in the future for more geotechnical observation. We checked out with CDC and Cornerstone prior to our departure. Figure 1.
